The description clearly states that the tongue has a diameter of 3" (trailer tongue). The tongues of trailers are often rectangular with a width of 3 inches and a height of 4 inches A 3" square still has 3" on every side because it is 5" tall for strength.

What are the holes before they are filled in What about the sides being drilled?

It is true. From top to bottom and from side to side.

Are the bolts needed to mount it included with the couple?

You do not receive hardware with it. For a couple of bucks, I bought grade 8 fasteners from a local hardware store.

It was easy to install (once I was able to remove the old, nasty coupler) and kept my trailer securely connected to the truck on a 2500 mile trip. For the case that I ever need to move it from one trailer to another, I also secured it to the trailer with stainless steel bolts. Having checked out what UHaul recommends and sells, I selected it from Amazon. I really, really like this product.

Although not the best movie ever made, it is still good. The trailer won't be used on the highway, as it was designed for a farm trailer. The process of getting it in order can be very finicky. I spent much more time than I need to trying to hook it It is a great deal if you have the time to look around!.

Trailer couplers of this quality are hard to come by these days. A class 3 hitch for heavy duty work. Nonetheless, I regret to inform you that the mounting holes do not line up with my class 2 hitch. Until I learned the difference, I thought they were the same.

During the installation of my boat trailer tongue, I needed to extend it. There are no problems with this hitch's latching system, which is reliable and strong. In the long run, it will be noticeable how the surface holds up, but for now, it is.

Having just rebuilt my trailer, I wanted to add a 3"x3" coupler. This was easy to install, arrived on time, and easily gave me the 5000 LB capacity. It is overkill for this trailer, but much more than what I had before. The price is great.
