It was my first time installing a bearing. The work is a test, but it's one that I'm looking forward to. I had considered not replacing the races at all, but I'm glad I decided against it. Since the installation, everything has been fine, and I would purchase these again if necessary. For the record, I'm towing a 9-footer. On a light duty trailer with four bass hounds, it's not exactly a hot dinner.
Using a Dexter straight axle on a trailer purchased from TSC. I didn't want to pay the exorbitant per-night rate. Carry-on has a side price. On charges of around $50 ($100) at TSC. At $78 per side ($156), the local bearing shop demanded even more. br>br>This bolted right up, the bearings felt good, and it came with everything you need (except the oil seals, which is a shame because this kit comes with some nice ones). I used red hi-vis to slap these in. Temperature was quickly reached, and the vehicle was immediately put through its paces on a 1100-mile full-load trip. br>br>Holds up well and does not overheat. There was nothing more I could ask for. I bought a second set because the naysayers were making me nervous, and I'm happy to report that I won't need them for another year.
Using only common shop tools, the installation was simple. I cut a couple of the old ones with a grinding disc and used them to drive the new ones into place with a hammer and block instead of using a press. The cuts made it simple to remove them.
Carry-on Size: 5'x5' On the back of the trailer It's the perfect size for a carry-on bag. On 3. Lowes sold me a 5' x 5' trailer. The original dust cap kept popping off, causing the bearings to fail (as shown in the photo). All of the original pieces were replaced with this replacement, which was an exact match. It's been two weeks since the bearings were replaced, and I've driven a few hundred miles since then, and the bearings are still in great shape. br>br>It was a long job for someone who had never done this type of repair before, but it was a relatively simple fix that saved us a lot of money.
Straight spindles with a diameter of 1/16 inch. This is the second time two trailers have been ordered. The first is a Karavan utility trailer, and the second is a Dutchman Pop up Camper from 1996. br>They are both extremely well-fitting and functional. Before ordering, double-check the bearing and race numbers embossed on the old part to ensure a proper fit. Except for the grease, the kits include everything you'll need to finish the job. If the need arises, I would purchase again.
The bearings and races were fine, but the seals were too big. I had to search the entire city for the correct ones. The seller should have indicated that the seals had been removed.
Excellent value for money. Standard bearings and races are used as components, and they are readily available in the area. My only issue was that the grease seal didn't fit my boat trailer axle/hub, but it was still nice to be all set up at such a low price. The grease seal that comes with the kit has a 1 ID. It had to be 1" instead of 25". So I had to go out and buy some locally. 375 ID (SFK 13557).
I didn't use the bearing end caps because they didn't fit right. Bearing buddies were put in place. They might be able to make this a possibility. However, they appear to be of good quality, and I had no difficulty installing them. They were also less expensive than going to a local parts store, and they were delivered to your door.
