Questions & Answers

Is the solenoid mounted in the right place?

On my Polaris Sportsman 2014, I just mounted it using a couple zip ties behind the air box under the seat. You can run the wire for the switch from the frame all the way up to the handlebars. The location is dry and should not be flooded.

How many pins are used to connect the solenoid?

The last time I hooked this up was quite some time ago. As I recall, it was +&& The battery is connected to the solenoid module and the solenoid module is connected to the winch motor by two wires. The solenoid module is responsible for switching the input. Thank you. I hope this was helpful.

The remote cable is 6' long, is that right?

I can sit on my four-foot stool on the 6 ft long table The wheeler can operate it just fine, and if you are operating from the side, you can do it either way.

How do you plug in the red wire to ?

The winch can be connected either to the ignition wire or to the positive battery lead, if you want, for example, the winch to be at the ready without turning a key.

Works well when it does
3/5

People have been saying that the solenoid box is too large and the electrode leads from it to the battery are too short. I agree. There is no seal around the solenoid box (I had to put silicone around the edge since I'm using it on an ATV). Due to the winch side being longer, I also reversed the leads (used the battery ones to the winch and the winch ones to the battery). By doing this, I was able to mount the box closer to the front, where it was protected from the elements. I'll get to the bad now. I only had the vehicle for 3 months (3 months of ownership and garaged) before the rocker switch broke internally and spooled in about 10% of the time. Due to the lack of a wireless backup, it forced me to work on it in the middle of the road where a heavy plow was blocking the road. My plow was raised after I got the switch to engage a few times but I had to try it about 30 times before I got it to work. I'd like to add that the reverse (or spooling out) worked great every time. I reversed the polarity at the winch and then was able to raise the plow with no problem. Finally we come to the good part (sort of). Champion power equipment technical support took 35 minutes to answer my call, but after talking to an English speaking individual I was able to immediately obtain What are my thoughts on If you need a backup wireless remote, you should choose one with this feature. Apart from that, at least the product is covered by a warranty.

A switch is okay, however a better one would be more effective
4/5

There is a lot of space inside the switch control box! Because space on an ATV is limited, it was difficult to find a place to mount because of its size. I had to find a place to mount the box and have access to the switch because the battery is mounted in the front, and it was hard to mount the box there. It does not take much wire to get to the winch but it is much shorter to get to In my opinion, the control bracket for the winch is not as good as it could be. It won't stay in place no matter how hard you tighten it. The bolt on one of the screws stripped, so I had to replace it.

I highly recommend this kit! This kit is excellent! Have tested remote at distances much greater than 50 feet, all you need
5/5

It worked perfectly when the receiver was tucked in the front compartment even though I had it on the inside. I strongly recommend it. My original rocker switch had to be replaced and I wanted remote control, but I didn't have a relay with my setup. I therefore purchased this kit. You cannot beat the price of this kit when you consider the cost of its components and Champion did not cut corners on quality. *My installation is as follows On a 2004 660 Grizzly, I was able to fit all components into the small compartment below the black trim of the front rack. I liked this location because no holes had to be drilled in any panels, and it is out of the rain and mud. I was concerned that the relay would be further away from the battery, and that the receiver/antenna might not function as well as if it were mounted open to the sky. In both cases, I did not notice any difference. My test on the relay worked fine, I also tested the receiver out in the open and enclosed and saw no difference between the two at 80'*note It takes a very short time for the winch to stop after the remote button is released. It is not a problem as long as you are not like me and like to add a little tension to the cable when you have it retracted completely. Use the handle bar switch instead, it is very responsive and you can add as much or as little tension as you like. Additionally I love the ability to use the remote to retract cable and hold the cable when retracting long lengths of cable, resulting in tighter winds on the spool.

IMMEDIATELY upon viewing the black box, you realize how big it is! The overly large switch I had previously replaced would not fit in the too-small switch I had planned to use Since I have short cables that came stock with my Champion winch, I thought that this would be perfect
3/5

however, the black box in the picture is not what it appears to be, so I had a hard time mounting it on my ATV. The battery leads coming out of the box are only about 18" long, reducing the amount of room I have for placement, and the box is not sealed on the bottom (exposed wiring), meaning that snow and salt will get in when I am plowing, which would be bad An ATV would not work with this as it would require a larger vehicle, such as a UTV or truck.

Adding a little more to it makes it work great
4/5

In case you still have the original champion winch controller that came with the small models, this will be a fantastic There is a lot of work involved in installing it. It is difficult to reach the front of the 4wheeler with the short battery leads installed under the cowl. If you don't have much room under your seat, you will need to replace them with something longer. The program works perfectly once it has been installed. The $45. 00 was well worth it. In addition, I bypassed the on-demand feature Once the solenoid box is mounted, there is no way to reach the off switch. The location can be anywhere as long as it is safe.

The standard winch has been improved with the inclusion of this
5/5

The set is excellent. This was replacing a winch toggle that didn't work and that had been installed badly as well. It was therefore somewhat limited in options. The pros are It has a good amount of documentation.
It is a relatively easy installation depending on the configuration of the atv or utv. The cons are Using a remote antenna required tapping a part of the ignition line. But the hot wire to do that was very short. As far as I know, I could not easily reconfigure the wire harness from the battery and winch to the At the moment, I am only using the toggle for the handle bar. It is the perfect way to use the winch. Perhaps I will reconfigure the next time I have the windshield, dashboard, console, seats, or seat flooring removed.

I bought this to run my mower-mounted snow blower's winch
5/5

It turned out to be a great product. The old switch in the attachment was rusted out when I purchased it used. There are no down sides to this switch, and it works as expected. It's a well-made and high quality product. The wires are sturdy, but flexible at the same time. Having used it on a mower as opposed to an ATV, I had to modify the mounting bracket.

I did not like the design of the I have a problem with the cord that plugs into my control box
3/5

I was stuck for so long before I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. A wire must be within one inch of the plug in order to be connected. Occasionally, they will not work at all, sometimes they won't pull on, and sometimes they won't let you out of a jam. Every time I put it back together and try to make it work, it would not work. I had to zip tie the plug to get it going.
