No, I don't believe so; the hitch is designed for a 2" hitch, and the bolts may not have enough thread for a smaller hitch.
There were no torque specifications in the directions, as far as I recall. I tightened it with the included wrench, which wasn't particularly large, so I'm confident it wasn't overtorqued. I wore it with a carrier for a week and it was fine.
Grade 8 is a mystery to me. However, it is extremely effective. I've driven with my electric bike on the roof rack and it hasn't swayed.

I liked the concept, but I didn't think about how inconvenient it would be in the long run. You'll need a 3/4" wrench to replace your hitch now that it's no longer a simple pin. The provided tool is insufficient to torque the bolts without causing them to stretch out of shape. The bolts have been torqued to a reasonable degree, and it appears that your problems have been resolved; there is no longer any rattle. However, after connecting a trailer and towing it for a distance, it will most likely loosen up and wobble once more. It would be helpful if they provided a torque value for the bolts. It's possible that increasing the torque or using lock nuts will keep it from loosening. I increased the torque to the point where it bends the plate, but pulling a light load like a camp trailer still feels loose at the end of the journey. Your hitch isn't loose enough for someone to steal it, so it's back to wiggling and rattling. Will continue to play around with different vehicles, trailers, and torque settings. So far, I've found it to be useful in smaller SUVs with occupants close to the rattle, as well as small utility trailers with less weight against the hitch.
The issue has been resolved. This is fantastic. I wish I'd seen these sooner because they really do help to quiet down the hitch. I used to wrap my hitches with electrical tape to keep them from rattling in the hitch receiver, but now that I have a four-bike carrier, I don't like it wobbling around as much, so I looked for a solution. I came across this device and figured what the heck, it looks like it'll do the trick. So I went out and bought it, and it hasn't come off since. There is no longer any tape, and everything is as quiet as it can be, with less wobble in my bike rack. This bracket, too, is sturdy. I didn't expect it to be as heavy as it was.
It was already equipped with a receiver hitch when it was purchased for $150. I use a smaller trailer (8x10), but the hitch was constantly clanking as I drove. Because even the tiniest bump caused noise, I purchased this to try to resolve the problem. It was simple to install, and it has almost completely eliminated the clanking sound when towing the trailer. I haven't tried pulling something heavier, such as a 21-foot bass boat, so I'm not sure how it'll hold up, but it works fine with anything in the 500-pound range. In the 1,000-pound range.
br>br>This product is completely useless. I installed it exactly as instructed, and I have the same amount of mobility as before. With the current attachment points, there is no way to remove rattle, according to the design. Don't be a slacker.
Bolts can be removed in a matter of seconds. It was simple to put together and did the job, but one of the nuts came loose before we finished our journey. GET ONE WITH TWO NUTS OR LOCKING NUTS RATHER THAN THIS ONE. br>br>It's a miracle it didn't fall off in the middle of the road. Although this was mentioned in other reviews, I needed something right away and couldn't wait for the locking ones to arrive. If you must use it, install it upside down so the bolts don't fall off when they loosen.
My 2015 GMC Acadia now has it installed. It was necessary to use the u-turn. Before inserting the hitch into the receiver, secure it with a bolt. I took the slop out of the fact that an anti-rattle hitch pin couldn't make my 5x10 utility trailer super quiet when loaded or empty.
For several weeks, it's been on my hitch, which holds a wheelchair lift on the back of my vehicle. It's rock solid and hasn't loosened in the least. I'm so relieved that I won't have to listen to the rattling I was hearing before I got this!.
The whole thing just slides around so much that if you test it with a flick of your finger, it almost comes loose. All hitches have a lip that can be used to keep them from falling off, but this one does not. Now, this might work better with a 2 in, but I was using a converter to upscale it from 1 1/4 to a 2. You do so at your own risk.
