Questions & Answers
You are absolutely correct. I was perplexed as well, because I'm having a long trunk custom-made to fit the carrier. I purchased the Arksen in order to accommodate a long trunk or custom-made box. My tradesman was trying to figure out the inner measurements before the carrier arrived because the previous carrier had no frame and was a dud. We now have the precise measurements needed for a snug fit. The Arksen carrier is the safest tray to use, especially when driving at 110 km/h. The frame that surrounds the tray is very sturdy and can be used to secure items. br>Wishing you all the best. They're available at any auto parts store, as well as Target and Walmart-style stores with a small auto parts section. A standard-sized pin is used.
The hinge portion must be installed, but this is a simple task.
The mower would not fit in the carrier, in my opinion.

and at a very reasonable cost! First, let's take a look at some of the negative feedback.
1. Although I have almost no rattle, anyone with a hitch knows that all you need is a tightener. Search: Anti-Hitch Tightener Hitch Tightener, Hitch Tightener, Hitch T clapbr>2. clapbr>clapbr>clapb Some people were worried about rust, but mine is completely protected by a black powder coat. I purchased a $0. 01 after reading a few sad stories. Before assembling and attaching the reflector stickers, I purchased a 99 can of black flat spray paint from Lowe's and coated it with the entire can. Note: Use only bungee cords with rubberized ends. hooks to keep you from scraping the paint off and causing rust. Lowe's carries it as well.
3. Mine has perfect weld points, and it's a big, thick, heavy, and well-made machine. The 500 pounds aren't held in place by the mesh. As a result, those weld points aren't as critical, but they're still adequate. The mesh is attached beneath the carrier's frame and serves only to prevent small objects from falling through. br>br>I've included four photos of this carrier, taken from two different angles and in both open and closed positions. For insertion of your hitch pin, this carrier has three pin holes to choose from. As a result, you have the option of deciding how far the carrier should be from your vehicle. All of my photos show it folded up with only the first hole inserted to keep it away from the vehicle. Note: My radio is tuned in. I can't use the two closer settings (when folded up) because they're back under my bumper. When it's only in the down position, however, I can slide it further into the receiver if I'm going on a long trip with a full load. As a result, heavier loads will be more stable. br>br>Best of luck to everyone! br>br>It's ideal for tailgating, nursery runs (garden centers), camping, and long journeys. You don't have to drive slowly, you don't need lights, you don't have to register it, and you don't have to pay eccise tax or additional toll amounts for the additional axle, unlike with a single axle trailer. Just keep in mind to keep your weight in the middle and to secure everything.
To be honest, this carrier is fantastic, but I have a few observations to make. The first is that the included hardware is inadequate; for an additional $15 or so, I went to ACE and purchased quality nuts and bolts. It's a simple solution, but it's a little inconvenient. The powdercoating isn't the best; I think it'll suffice for the purpose, but don't expect perfection. Apart from that, it's fantastic. I packed it with a couple of large totes and some beach gear for spring break. I drove it 1800 miles round trip and had no problems. The folding mechanism works well and is simple to operate. The carrier is solid, strong, and well built; I did purchase a small hitch tightener, as recommended by other reviews, and it was a good addition because the shank in my 2" hitch was a little loose. You won't find a better deal for less than $100. I could have built one that was better, stronger, and had a better finish, but it would have cost me far more money and time. This is perfect for the two or three times a year that I will use it, and I have no doubt that I will be using it for years to come. I will probably have to paint it at some point, but I am very pleased with my purchase. PS - If you made it this far, here's a piece of advice: those black and yellow totes from Costco (the large size) fit side by side like they were made for each other, you're welcome. Kyle.
Because the arm of this rack is so long, any load placed on it will leverage your hitch's tongue nearly twice as much as the stated weight limit. The tongue limit of your hitch will effectively be reduced to 150 or 100 pounds if the tongue limit is 350 pounds. It will be reduced from 200 pounds to well under 100 pounds if it is 200 pounds. Because the rack is already 53 pounds, adding another 40 or 50 pounds will push it beyond its limits, putting your hitch or vehicle at risk of damage. br>br>Our hitch was damaged, and we now need to have a replacement installed. OneBigOutlet appears to be in charge of shipping for this item. They've been dragging their feet on the return process, as if they don't want it returned at all, let alone pay for the return shipping. br>br>Given the positive reviews, I was optimistic about this product; we have a Honda Passport with a hitch tongue weight limit of 350 pounds. We put a 50-pound bin on the rack after it was installed and drove it around the block to see how it worked. For this product and setup, this should not have been an issue. We appear to be in the red for the cost of this rack, as well as the cost of a new hitch and installation. Be careful who you buy from. This rack is most likely designed for extremely tough pickup trucks or rigs.
It's so small that I can't even tell it's there when I'm driving. With my receiver setup, the rack hangs out there quite a bit, so I added some lights to it for safety. I strongly advise anyone who buys this rack to do the same.
