Questions & Answers

Stainless steel is used in the manufacture of metals? Would the lock rust if left out in the rain?

My background is not in metallurgy, so I cannot assure you that it will not rust. However, it appears to be resistant to moisture. It is possible to keep it from rusting by spraying it with silicon spray on occasion. Aluminum is used to make the cross members. There is no rust on that.

Is it possible for it to be installed in a 2005 caravan?

To measure the width of a hood, you have to measure its width

This is a really nice bar for the price
5/5

I really like it. I read over a thousand reviews before purchasing this product in order to get a feel for what I was buying. The things that stood out to me were the color and the whistling sound from the wind on the underside Ok, I understand. Considering I only paid $43, this isn't a bad deal. This prompted me to buy I was impressed with the product the moment I opened the box. Each of the 4 locks was opened by two keys. This seems to be a sturdy pair. Design that is simple and effective. It was noticeable that both crossbars had a tubular section on the bottom ends. This is what I figured was the cause of the wind noise. So, here are some further details. Wrapping the tunnel in aluminum foil tape (two times) was a simple task. Inside the tunnel, the inside of the wind was trapped whistling. It was being swept past an almost smooth surface. Let's talk about color now. A white 2016 Jeep Cherokee 75th anniversary off-road vehicle is available for sale This package (charcoal grey and black moldings and tires) is part of the road package. It was not my intention for the cross bars to be silver. I went to Walmart and bought a $6 can of matte black plastidip and painted everything (except the clamps) three times. Install it after it has dried and set for 48 hours. In the 0-8 range, I have not heard any whistling Approximately 85 mph. My rack is strong enough to hold up on top of my SUV. Updates on this review will be provided in the Spring. By then, these bars will be undergoing quite a bit of wear and tear.

You made a great discovery
5/5

I really like the look of these, and they fit well. I was also surprised at how easy the installation was. The 2007 Subaru Crosstrek I bought for our camping trip came with them as an aftermarket accessory because I wanted them for our trip and they were super easy to mount. As well as the kayak racks, they fit well there Despite driving for nine hours with kayaks, everything continued to work as it should.

This is a great set of crossbars for the Nissan Rogue 2016
5/5

Over the last week, I have been using it with a cargo carrier on our 2016 Nissan Rogue. When we have our cargo bag with us, it works excellent in rains and 40 mph winds. I watched them hold tight to our bars and cargo bag and didn't see them move an inch. This is a high-quality product that is extremely easy to.

It was something I wanted to love but could not
3/5

On my 2014 Toyota 4Runner, I installed this kit. There were no problems during installation and the bars looked to be very snugly fastened. The kayak stacker with 2 kayaks on it had not been installed properly, so one of the ends of the bar had slipped out of the bottom and the cap had fallen off. The entire load had shifted to the right, and the bar was hanging over Our vehicle was able to be pulled over and re-fueled Although I have lost faith in this cross bar system, I have not shifted everything. The bar also has a raised ridge area that, every time kayaks pass over it, takes a small amount of plastic off of them with their weight.

Those fit fine on my 2013 Subaru Imprezza, although it took me a couple days to mount them
5/5

There is no way for me to understand how retaining bolts and locks could be a problem. In addition to preventing persons from accessing the retaining bolts, the locks are only there to prevent theft. Stealing is the best way to get it. It's simply a matter of removing the locks and using an allen wrench to move it. We had to measure side to side to make sure both of these were evenly positioned and then it took us about five minutes to install both onto the Imprezza 2013 with factory rails. I could not imagine a simpler way to install it. I was able to lock on to them Over the weekend, I will drive them on the highway to see how they perform. They were shipped in the factory's original box and included Allen keys and an allen key set. Everything in the box was brand new, despite the delivery service. The box came in acceptable condition, considering the delivery service. Please see the update below. The distance traveled in 4 days was 1776 miles. On the highway, we are going 70 mph. There was no slipping or loosening. It would be impossible for me to tell you about additional noise, as I have an unreliable hearing system already. As for the stereo, I use it quite frequently. I did not notice any noise at high speeds in the Imprezza.

You did a great job! I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee and the rack fits perfectly
4/5

It has just become my hobby to ride a road bike. The 300-pound drop would have been too much for me It costs about $400 to set up a Thule or Yakima luggage rack. I would like to offer this alternative for $135. Fork mounts for bike forks are priced at $600, including shipping. The product has worked well for me, I have had it for almost 4 months and have used it often. About 15 minutes were required for installation. Installation is pretty straightforward, and since I check on it occasionally, I am confident that everything is in place.

That was sure easy, but the bad news is that The update is After using these for a few years I had to replace two cracked rail clamps twice
3/5

The manufacturer supplied the replacements free of charge and with free shipping, but they did say that I was using the clamps incorrectly since they should not That's correct, you read that correctly. Your warranty does not cover these items if left on the top of the car. While I do remove these when not in frequent use, I leave them on enough that they are prone to failure. The failures both occurred on the side of the roof box not shaded by the rack. A 5 star rating from the original reviewer My time to unpack the box probably took as long as my time to put it in These cross rails are made of aluminum and seem to be very durable. I expect there will be no problems with the clamps since they are made of clamshell plastic and seem fairly sturdy. If there is a week link in the system, I expect these are probably it. In addition to the rubber grips, there are ridged aluminum ridges along the top, so it is not smooth and will hopefully provide some grip for things which are tightened to I installed this on a 2011 Kia Sorrento and it looks really good.

I thought it was a great design at a great price. The outer edges of the rails are 44 inches. I left more than enough room between them, even with them 5" apart. Beyond the limit of 2, the jaws were open. I was able to fit this easily over the wide oval rails of the Kia Sorrento and reinstall the mudguards. I don't hear any noise below 45MPH. In addition to that, I hear a very low steady note, like virtually every roof rack I have owned, including aero racks. You can definitely hear it if you are looking for it, but if you are not, you may not notice it. A brief description of the magnitude would be The sound is definitely less loud than the sound you get from a window that is not exactly sealed correctly. I note that the new rack comes with a cover piece for the slot at It is still one of the noisiest racks I have ever seen, even without the power supply. In order to tighten the mechanism you will need both the lock key and an extra long allen wrench (provided). An additional plastic piece can be slid back to reveal the tightening screw head with the keys. Using this plastic sheet, the head of the screw is hidden when the screw is locked. Locking the screw mechanism does not seem to be part of the lock, just hiding the access port. It looks like drilling out the plastic cover of the screw could be easy in the event that you lose the keys. There is no security from a thief with a drill (contrary to the theory). Racks that require an allen key to tighten have also been seen with different designs. Since it is needed for this one, it must be kept in mind. This item is extra long, so replacing it would be a challenge. I've lost mine twice over the years and the long handles are pricey!.
