Questions & Answers

How far apart do the crossbars have to be?

I'll have to go outside and measure the exact separation, but it's raining right now, so I won't be able to do so. HOWEVER (funny you should ask), I attempted to install my Sears X-mas tree for the first time TODAY. It DID NOT FIT the Cargo XL Black Car Top Carrier. I bought the carrier for my 2010 Honda Pilot, but when I tried to install it in my new 2017 Honda Pilot, the crossbars needed to be separated a little more, which I couldn't adjust with the Pilot or the carrier. I'll have to purchase a new carrier to fit the 2017 Honda Pilot crossbars, which are not adjustable.

Have you fitted it to a 2022 Pilot SE before?

It'll be fine. These are the same body style as the ones I have on my 2019 and 2022.

Will these be compatible with a passport issued in 2019?

I don't know because I have a 2017 calendar.

Is there a set of roof rails included?

The roof rails are not included. It includes the cross bars as well as the necessary hardware for mounting them to the rails (which my Pilot already had).

Although the product is good, changing the width as part of the installation process was a pain
3/5

The bars themselves appear to be of excellent quality, and I would easily give them a five-star rating. The only reason I gave the product a three-star rating was because of the difficulty I had installing it on my 2017 Honda Pilot Touring. One thing to keep in mind is that if the width of your vehicle rails matches the width of the crossbars as shipped, installation will be a breeze. However, my rails were too short when they arrived, and the process of modifying the width as part of the installation was not well described in the instructions and was not intuitive. If you need to adjust the width as part of your installation, I've listed some key points below to keep in mind. br>A) Once the bars are installed on your vehicle, you will be unable to snap the covers back over the width adjustment screws due to a design flaw. As a result, to adjust the width, follow the steps below, which should be included in the installation manual.
1- Remove the covers and loosen the screws that adjust the width. br> 2- Install bars on the vehicle's roof and adjust their width so that they are flush with the vehicle rails. br> 3- Tighten the width adjustment screws once the bars are in place. br> 4- Pull the bars off the vehicle so you can replace the covers. br>B) Snapping the covers back in place over the width adjustment screws on my crossbars was difficult. Before pushing either side into place, I had to be very careful to get each side of the cover started. If you don't get it exactly right, one side of the cover will not be fully inserted and will be impossible to push in any further, forcing you to remove the cover and start over. br>C) Once the crossbar width is determined, installation is simple and only requires the use of the eight screws provided.

These are actually quite simple to set up
4/5

These were purchased for my 2018 Honda Pilot Elite and fit perfectly. Here are some of my thoughts: br>br>A Torx T30 bit is required to remove the 8 factory bolts from the vehicle. The bolts that come with the crossbars are T25 (in case you don't want to use the Allen wrench that comes with them to tighten them down). It's a good idea to use a torque wrench). br>br>It's actually quite simple to put these together. The front and back rails are labeled, as well as which side of the rail should face forward, due to the shape and curvature of the roof. The front rail is longer than the back due to the shape and curvature of the roof. br>br>The majority of the installation time is spent fiddling with the rail length. By removing a plastic cap and undoing some screws on the left and right sides, they can adjust. br>br>The rear rail was the most straightforward to install for me. It fit perfectly after I increased the length on both sides to the maximum setting. The front rail takes the longest to adjust. br>br>Because the left side of the rail doesn't have much travel, I began by adjusting it as far out as it would go. Keep both plastic caps off the rail until you're finished adjusting it, then replace them before installing the bolts. Having a second person to help line up the rail on the opposite side of the one you're working on is a good idea. You may think it looks and fits perfectly, but if you're a fraction off, there will be a gap, and the bolts will not go in. br>br>So, in conclusionbr>br>1. When installing these, it's best to have two people. br>2. Begin by adjusting the rear rail, as it appears to require the least amount of adjustment. br>3. Keep track of which side is the front and which side is the back rail, as well as which side should face the front. All of them are labeled. br>4 Adjust the length of each rail's left side as far as it will go, then adjust the right side to make the fit. br>5. Tighten everything down with a ratchet or, even better, a torque wrench. To install the T25 bit, you'll need an extension bar. br>6. Allow 30 to 45 minutes for installation. br>br>I ordered the silver bars, which are lighter in color than the factory side rails, as others have noted. I can live with it, but if you want an exact match, you'll have to look elsewhere (I haven't seen one as an aftermarket accessory). They appear to be of good quality and appear to be good value for the money.

I have no qualms
5/5

Our very expensive Thule mounts seemed to have gone missing just before a cross-country trip, so this was a bit of an "emergency" purchase. A road trip through the countryside Normally, I would shy away from unfamiliar non-profit organizations. OEM brands, but given our deadline, I really didn't have a choice. br>br>As it turned out, these rails performed flawlessly and have proven to be a regret-free purchase. I'm glad I took advantage of the free offer! In contrast to some other reviews, I found the length adjustments to be simple and painless. The bars were perfectly aligned with the dealer with only minor adjustments. My wife's 2016 Pilot now has side rails. Securing them was simple and quick at the time (full disclosure: I was one of the people who helped secure them). Even though it was dark, cold, and rainy outside, I used a ratchet and extension instead of the provided tool. br>br>When I first saw the package, I thought the "silver" color was unusually bright, and that it would clash with the car's silver finish. That was not the case, much to my surprise - In person, the difference isn't nearly as noticeable as my photos suggest; in fact, it's barely discernible even when you're looking for it. br>br>In the end, I bought these for a reason rather than for looks; In that sense, they completed the task and did so flawlessly. We received our 20 cu. ft. of storage the next day after they were installed. ft. The carrier has been attached and is fully loaded. Our 15- We traveled over 7,300 miles through 18 states and experienced nearly every type of weather imaginable during our day adventure. Neither during the trip nor since has there been a single issue or concern with these crossbars. My wife hasn't noticed any noise or vibration since the carrier was removed, and the bars are still as secure as they were when they were first installed. I had planned to take them off when we got home and only use them when we needed the cargo carrier, but my wife insisted on keeping them because she "likes the look. " br>br>With this purchase, I feel like I struck gold. If I had more time, I would have spent twice as much (or more) on OEM or big-name products. Crossbars with a specific brand. I'm glad I didn't make that mistake because the Brightline product is of such high quality and performance!.
