This is fantastic - Low cost compared to alternatives, and a sleek black appearance for those who prefer a black accent to a chrome one. I was initially perplexed by the placement; I assumed these were supposed to be installed in the pre-existing space. I cut openings in the Renegade side rails, but after looking at some pictures online, I realized they should just fit inside those cut-outs. a little closer together on the outs They fit perfectly and look great after the placement was adjusted.
For installation, the crossbars were clearly marked, and the instructions were simple to follow. The front bar was exactly the right size. I used a rubber mallet to tap in the rear bar, which was 1/16" too long. The matte black finish was appealing to me, so I chose these. There were no problems with the myroof opening as well. If you buy these instead of Mopar, you'll save $200.
The crossbar assemblies' ends are plastic, but they appear to be strong enough (unless they stress crack; see below). That is something that only time will tell). It's almost as if installing the system is a piece of cake. While what others have said about not needing the instructions is correct, what isn't in the instructions could be the source of some of the reported failures in use. While the clamping screws must be tightened to the specified torque, the two slide adjustment screws on the underside, passenger side of each bar are not mentioned in the instructions. It's only a matter of time before these screws vibrate out if they aren't tightened. If this happens, the cargo and bars could be ripped from the vehicle due to aerodynamic lift caused by the cargo load. It's also difficult to find and tighten these screws. The use of a mirror mounted on the vehicle's roof is beneficial. If the plastic is of a type that will not be eaten by the thread sealant, a drop of red Loctite could help keep the screws in place. All- All in all, mounting these screws on the brackets' tops would be a design improvement. I'd be grateful if the manufacturer could let me know if the plastic is Loctite-compatible.
This was a quick and easy installation that took less than 10 minutes and looks great on my 2015 Jeep Renegade. The front and rear bars are clearly labeled, as well as which side of the bar faces the vehicle's front. A 4 is required. For the installation, you'll need a 5mm allen wrench. I did it in the following way:
1. The bottom retainer is released by removing the two allen bolts on top of the bars.
2. Turn the bars over and tighten the two allen bolts on the LEFT underside to lock one side in place, which will come in handy later.
3. Place bars wherever you want on the roof.
4. Reinstall the left side bottom retainer and tighten the allen bolt while looking down from the top of the bars. br>5. Replace the bottom retainer with the allen bolt on the right side. br>6. This is where it gets tricky, so be patient. Tighten the two locking allen bolts beneath the bar with your hand. Because you won't be able to see them, just feel your way around and avoid cursing.
7. Rep with the other bar after cursing.
8. You are now awesome, and you should treat yourself to pizza or tacos as a reward.
The quality and craftsmanship of these crossbars astounded me. It's well-made. They've received a lot of positive feedback. They fit like a glove and have no movement once you tighten them down with the allen wrench provided. Additionally, while driving, there is no noise. If you want low-profile crossbars at a low price, these are the ones to get!.
It took me less than 30 minutes to complete the installation. The back crossbar was a little tight, but it wasn't a major issue. At 70 miles per hour, there isn't a single whistle or sound. The black is in keeping with the factory's roof. It fits perfectly in the rack! For the money, this is a fantastic purchase. br>br>Instead of using an Allen wrench, I used a ratchet with an Allen insert, which made an already simple installation even easier. If I could, I'd give it a six-star rating.
They're made specifically for a Renegade, so they're far superior to generic versions. Because the Allen screws for side adjustments are under the cross bars, they can be difficult to work with. Working on them is difficult due to a lack of space and visibility, and they become more difficult to see and access as they become tighter. That, on the other hand, isn't a problem at all. Right out of the box, they're near-perfect. Do not overtighten the bolts to the specified torque. Tighten each side a little at a time, not fully tightening one side before fully tightening the other. Tighten the bolts most of the way, until they're firm, then drive a little, then return and tighten the rest of the way. They appear to be factory parts, made specifically for this vehicle. I'm quite pleased! It's also a good value. Why would you pay $200/$300 for something that could be done for free? Enjoy!.
Here's what I'm going to tell you! So, ever since I got my 2015 Jeep Renegade in 2015, I've been eyeing a roof rack, but I've been too cheap until now. . . . I looked for a long time for the right product, and thanks to the positive feedback, I chose this one. 1 I'm a complete moron when it comes to putting things together, and there were NO PARTS with these roof racks. br>There are no screws or screwdrivers. So that's right up my alleybr>2 I'm looking for super simple instructions, and you don't even need instructions to put these on. Because no one was at home, neither my son nor my boyfriend were available to assist, and I simply have a bad habit of not waiting! It is imperative that everything be completed as soon as possible! br>br>Ok, so I just put these on, Jeep looks fancy. I haven't tried them yet, but I will eventually. For now, I just like the look. If you're a woman looking for a high-quality food rack, this is the one to get!.
