Questions & Answers

The cut is fine, medium, or deep in terms of aggressiveness. ?

It's a medium level for me. I use it with a Flex 3401 and an orange Lake Country CCs. Removes swirls and fine scratches with a 5-inch pad.

Is it possible to use it on a plastic surface?

Yes, but you may need another finer compound for the final finish if you use a power buffer. However, if you use a power buffer, you must use extreme caution when applying pressure, or the plastic may melt.

Will this work to remove oxidation from glass or windows?

On glass, any substance will work. However, use a buffing pad that isn't quite as aggressive. I wouldn't use a buffing pad designed for car finishes because it might be too aggressive; instead, I'd use a micro-fiber cloth. If you're going to use this on glass, you'll need a fiber detail cloth.

Is it possible to remove scratches from a black car with this?

Maybe because it's a very mild abrasive. I've discovered that it's difficult to rub out scratches now that all cars have clear coats over the paint, as it was in the past.

Slowly increase the speed of your movements
5/5

More efforts should be made. Never go too fast when removing 2k clearcoat overspray. It was nearly impossible to try every product available in auto stores. When I saw this, I realized that the white powder was what the professionals used because it was everywhere. It's pricey, and I advise against using it at high speeds; instead, start slowly and gradually increase the speed. When I was going to a specific location and became frustrated with the lack of progress, I increased the speed to 7 and it immediately stripped the paint off the car. You can remove almost anything from your car with the right wool pads. Extra paint for Sap clear coat It begins as a liquid and then transforms into a white powder. Fortunately, I was able to find some carbon fiber bumper stickers to cover the paint I had removed, and it turned out to be a satisfactory result. With trial and error, I was extremely fortunate; the mistake could have been much worse. So start slowly and gradually increase your speed, checking your work frequently and polishing with the edge of the polisher to avoid major damage.

3- What exactly did you do? I had a bottle of 3-year-old wine in my possession

M Perfect It III was the best thing I bought in 2018. The mirrored finish is flawless. But then I forgot about it and left it in the garage for the winter (this is Ohio, after all), and it froze. It no longer functions as well as it did when I first received it, which is to be expected. So, since I couldn't find Perfect It III, this was the best I could do. I was hesitant at first, but after looking everywhere under the sun and failing to find it, I went ahead and did it. br>br>This stuff is either CRAP or I got a bad batch. Pulling out the buffer for round two, I rubbed it out by hand, minor scratches still visible, oxidized paint intact. There isn't any difference. Even the Machine Polish proved to be ineffective. I spent two days rubbing and buffing away, trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I wasn't looking for perfection; instead, I wanted something I'd tried and liked before. I got the same result with this as I could have with McGuire's, but for a lot less money!.

This rubbing compound is nothing short of a MIRACLE
5/5

This 3M 06085 Perfect-It Rubbing Compound works like a charm. I had recently painted a car and had some terrible over spray and orange peel when it was finished. I was devastated until I did some research and discovered that sanding with 3000 grit sandpaper followed by 3M 06085 would remove ALL defects. It completely removed all of the overspray and rendered the orange peel undetectable. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the rubbing compound result, which was extremely smooth and shiny. Because of the smooth finish, it performs more like a professional polish. br>br>As others have stated, this material can be used for a variety of purposes. It's also great for restoring plastic headlights. br>br>It may appear costly, but I paid more than a 93 T-shirt. Even though I shot the bird twice, I only used 16 oz. I'd pay twice the price for what it accomplished, but don't tell 3M. )br>br>Recently updated: 14br>br>I realize I forgot to mention that the 3M 05723 8" Foam Compounding Pad, as well as an 8" rotary buffer/sander, should be used together. The right pad and rotary speed are crucial for achieving the best results. br>br>kd.

By purchasing the best, which is this, you will be able to skip the rest
5/5

In my opinion, this is the best cutting compound available. While it isn't cheap, keep in mind that you are getting 16 ounces in a barrel-shaped container that isn't prone to tipping. The compound itself is excellent and represents 3M's best; this is what the professionals use.

Not aggressive enough to buff quickly- out of the clear coat that has been fully cured The 3M 39060 Perfect It Rubbing Compound claims to be able to withstand scratches of P1200 grit and finer
4/5

In reality, sanding with P2500 grit or higher is required to get it to work properly. Otherwise, clearing up the surface necessitates a significant amount of buffing time. br>br>I've only recently started using this product, the rub- check out the two-year-old clear coat finish on the hood of my 1972 Camaro. The orange peel had factory grade quality and was smooth on the surface. I color- Sanded with a P1000 to P2000 grit sandpaper. This stuff took a little longer to get the shine than the standard 3M compound I've been using for years (using a DeWALT DWP849), and I still prefer the good ole 3M Super Duty Compound for this type of work.

This stuff works like magic! I was driving through a construction zone when a traffic cone in front of me was kicked out, leaving a HUGE orange rub mark on my white Mazda's bumper
5/5

The mark was gone without a trace after a few drops of this stuff and a buffing pad attached to the drill! This stuff is a little pricey, but it's well worth the money because it works!.

It's fantastic! Wet Sand Scratches are removed with a 2000 grit sandpaper
5/5

This product was used to buff out wet sand scratches that were 2000 grit. It's a cinch to use. After using 2000 grit paper to achieve a mirror finish, this product was used, followed by Maguires.

It's a joke, don't get me wrong
3/5

Professional polish from 3M is well-known. This isn't even close to a one-polish finish. It's too watery, despite the fact that it's supposed to be sour cream-like with small particles. It's extremely difficult to polish with subtle results, and it's all over. 2 and 3 were also purchased: They're all nearly identical (according to amazon). You're better off going to your local body shop and asking for some; they buy the real stuff by the gallon. I recommend staying away from this phony material.
