It's possible to carve only one side. One side has a burlap-like Jute Backing, so that side will not be used for carving. Thank you for your time. I hope this information is useful.

DO NOT BUY THESE IF YOU ARE AN ARTIST THINKING OF MAKING LINO CUTTINGS OR LINO PRINTS. The grain is massive, and no amount of ink will spread evenly or completely on these (no matter how hard you try). The result is a splotchy, unattractive ink pattern where it should have been smooth and uniform. They're easy to cut, but the quality for lino printing is terrible. Other than cutting them into circles and using them as coasters or something, I'm not sure what else you could do with them. Anyway, these are the worst; if you want a good print, invest in higher-quality linoleum (rather than cork or whatever this is).
I expected a smooth surface, but this linoleum has a textured surface that was not suitable for my needs. I was trying to make prints and couldn't seem to get a flat, continuous color. It was the first time I noticed how textured it was. Sorry, but it does not appeal to me at all.
Horrible product made from inferior materials. It was not at all what was advertised.
Mine will almost certainly end up in the trash, though I may be able to donate them to a charity, but I don't think it's fair to give something so shoddy to a charity in need. Do not make a purchase.
It's not a linoleum block at all. Yes, it's simple to cut, but the edges aren't sharp and the chips aren't smooth. It's possible that this is a good option for newbies.
Small projects, such as cards, benefit greatly from this technique.
This product is simple to cut, but it leaves rough edges, which is not what I was hoping for.
Carving Pink Linoleum Blocks is a lot easier.
