Cleaning my printing tools is usually done with hand sanitizer.
This Speedball Block Printing Baren is intended for use in printmaking only, not on fabric.
This is a decent film. I found it to be poorly made for the price, so shop around for a better deal and a variety of barens.

After doing some research, I decided to purchase this Speedball baren in the hopes of getting crisper prints with more consistent ink coverage. br>br>Here, the construction quality is quite good. The wood handle was easy to grip and press with in my adult-sized hand, and the pressing surface is covered in some kind of mesh that glides over the paper very smoothly as it presses down. The results are promising; with a little practice, I've been able to achieve much more even ink coverage on the paper thus far, and I find it to be a better overall experience than using the spoon. This appears to be getting a lot of use until I can get my hands on a real press.
Many Gel Press and Gelli Arts artists use this to rub on the back of the paper to pull a print from their gel plate, as I've seen on YouTube. I was disappointed in the low quality of the brayer when I received it, and after seeing it, I believe it is overpriced. The edges of the metal were not rounded, and it was sharp in some places. In order to avoid injury, I asked my husband to file down some areas on the brayer. I recommend that everyone shop around for a higher-quality brayer at a reasonable price.
I used it to make 50 Christmas cards out of a carved block print, and it worked perfectly. It was simple to apply enough rubbing pressure to the Baren to obtain a good clean image. br>br>There is one drawback, despite the fact that I did not reduce the 5-star rating: My four fingers could barely fit in the handle, and there wasn't enough room between the top of the Baren and my fingers to wrap my thumb underneath. It's not a big deal, but it's something to keep in mind if you have large, broad hands.
I've been printing and hand-burnishing for a long time and decided to give this item a try when I saw it. I didn't have any problems with it. Wooden barens and spoons are much more difficult to use - I know because I've tried them all. The underbed cushion aids in the precise and detailed transfer of the impression. I'm going to get some more of this for personal use.
Applying pressure to the back of the printing paper is a breeze with this tool. It aids in the removal of more paint from the plate during my pulls.
It's not nearly as heavy as I had anticipated for some reason. It's extremely light, and it aids in evening out a stamp's appearance on paper. However, I believe it is a waste of time. The same could be said for a book. However, I employ it on a regular basis. It's one of those things you wish you had but don't.
On the advice of a friend, I bought this. This is fantastic. This was recommended to me by a friend, so I bought it. My block prints were not transferring cleanly or completely. But ever since I got this, I've been getting really good results, including transfers! The baren glides over the paper with ease when you apply a little pressure. It's fantastic - I really like it. I would strongly advise anyone to do this!.
When using hand carved stamps, Baren comes in handy; the larger it is, the more useful it is. All of the surfaces make contact, resulting in a clear and evenly printed image. I wasn't sure I needed it at first, but after a few weeks of use, I'm glad I did. I had already bought it.
