Is it possible to glue a piece of paper to the claybord surface?

Because it has some porosity, it appears to be easily adhereable, but why cover/mar a fantastic painting surface?

Is it possible to cover it with masking fluid?

Yes, Ampersand Claybord can be used with masking fluid without issue.

Is it necessary to frame these?

I painted with egg tempera on my board. As I moved the paint around to the sides, it looked great just the way it was. It's entirely up to you. :

Is this board tough in the sense that you won't be able to scratch it? Scratching into black ink-covered clay boards was one of my favorite pastimes. ?

This isn't a scratch board. It was used to create a watercolor and pen drawing. I used ink on watercolor paper and had good results with minimal warping, which is common with regular watercolor paper. Scratchboard is also much thicker than smooth board, so it may require some etching, but I'd use extreme caution with your etching tools. I hope you found this information useful.
