This type of foam I split just recently for a piano bench cushion, which was 4" thick. Two 2x4's were used as a measuring tool to get the right height, and a long, sharp cake knife (found on Amazon) was used to cut it.
You'd be better off going to a fabric shop so you can find the size you need.

Reupholstering the kitchen chairs was one of my projects last week. Now that we are used to these comfortable chairs, we are no longer uncomfortable. Our old chairs were really bothering our backs since we were spending a lot of time sitting on our kitchen chairs working on our laptops, eating, playing with the grandkids and watching tv. It was a matter of removing the old, thin foam and replacing it with this thicker foam. It did not pose any problem when I cut it with an electric knife (turkey carver type). It has a smoother cut and the foam is thicker and denser than it was originally. It's upholstered in Sunbrella upholstery fabric that I bought for the interior. Not only do you now have comfortable chairs, but you also have an updated look. The fact that I can order this on Amazon appeals to me greatly. While I live in a suburb of a large metro area, the store closest to me recently closed and it isn't likely that my community has stores that sell foam. It is not possible to obtain this kind of foam at the big craft stores since they don't carry this quality and density, so get this and stop shopping.
In the early stages of my purchase, I knew I would cut this foam to fit a wooden board. It came in a rolled up state such as the one shown in the featured photo, however, once unrolled it stays flat. This was a pretty straightforward project to cut. The measurements were precise and it was easy to cut. I find that super glue works pretty well on the board that I have attached to and it is comfortable. I hope it will last.

I searched for *memory foam insert*, and this is what came up, so I purchased it thinking it was Although it is not memory foam, this particular product is advertised as memory foam via the seller's search terms for this product (otherwise it would not come up in the search results). The piece of plain cheap foam I bought for over $13 was very overpriced, and it was not usable at all. As I stated here, I was also responsible for not reading the bad reviews for this product. There are many of them stating the same things I have.
For an ottoman, I bought it to give it a bit more height and fluff. I remember when it happened. When it is trimmed from a rectangle to an oval, it can be difficult to cut. Cutting styrofoam feels similar to how it feels when you are cutting glass. In my finished ottoman, it doesn't feel like styro foam. There is nothing beautiful about the ottoman. The best I could do was try.
I bought this to put on my recliner so it would add an even feeling where there was wear on the cushions, but I think it is too thick and it You'll love the quality of the foam and I can highly recommend it if you find a use for Also, I tried it on my bed as I thought it would make my mattress more comfortable (I have a bad back), but it's too narrow to sleep comfortably with. It has been great. My dog has just gone blind, so I use it along a railing to make sure she doesn't fall through, and it's so soft when she bumps her head against She deserves to have it lined all throughout her home if I could afford it.
My pictures show that they are actually 18*17, not 18*18 as advertised.
Foam that worked really well to replace some old foam in our dining room chairs that were over 10 years old. This product is definitely recommended because it offers a lot of extra cushion on the chairs and the high compression rate reduces noise. I also found the price of this foam to be much lower than that of foam.
Our intention was to make new cushions for counter stools from this foam. It is the perfect size for this application because it requires less waste than the 24" width available at local craft and fabric stores and the cost is much lower.
