As long as the material of the current sofa is foam, it may work with the same size. There are very few things that make me wish I could give this The arthritis in my hips and lower spine is extremely painful, and I have been using "mushy" cushions to elevate myself a bit to relieve pressure and support my joints. Like some older people, I am somewhat overweight as well, but I'm extra large. In my experience, this is the first cushion that I have found that supports me. I know that might seem like a minor thing, but at this stage of my life, after losing a great deal of my mobility, it's no less important than anything else. The foam cushion almost didn't get ordered because of my past experience with foam cushions that turned into pancakes - I almost didn't order it. But nope, this foam is nice and firm and supportive. You might be fine with regular foam if you're small and petite, but I prefer this firmness.
This foam must be vacuum packed, so please be sure to know that. This is a very small item that is virtually unrecognisable.
