GE has created a fantastic Smart Oven
JTD5000SNSS is the subject of this review. 30 in. Smart Convection Double Electric Wall Oven (Upper Oven) Self-Cleaning Stainless steel is used for cleaning. The model is correct, but the details are unclear in this listing. Although I did not purchase mine from Amazon, I am sharing this information in order to assist others who may be considering doing so. br>br>For years, my husband had wished for a second oven in our home. I had no idea what the fuss was about, but being the caring person that I am, I got it for them. I had no idea how much effort this would entail. But, in the end, I'm overjoyed with the improvement over our previous range. br>br>CABINET/ POWER INSTALLATION was a nightmare! I only had one dedicated 40 AMP circuit because I only had a range. However, with a double wall oven, I needed another dedicated circuit for the cooktop, which was necessary because I wouldn't have one otherwise, as well as ordering and installing a cabinet that matched my original cabinets. I had to move the range's original outlet up the wall and over to a cabinet for the cooktop, as well as spin the switch and two outlets around (into my pantry and walk-in room). The drywall from pulling in the new circuit was not repaired by the cabinet installers, so that was a bit. With my pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre work, followed by cabinet installers, electrical, and finally installation. br>br>INSTALLING THE OVEN WAS EASY, AS MY CUSTOM CARPENTER DID THE PLATFORM AND MEASUREMENTS. Because the risers were not measured, I placed it on the cabinet platform. This isn't an issue because the entire bottom of the oven is vented and remains open to the kitchen. It was as simple as that to hardwire it. Then it was just a matter of putting it in the box; I used some of the oven tape to tape up the wire to keep it from sliding in on top of the oven. It's covered in metal so it won't irritate your skin, but it won't fit well unless you raise it up. WEAR YOUR GLOVES, I'll tell you. My friend and I each had at least a half-dozen small slices in our hands (and faces). Don't slant your shoulders! ) There was a large gouge. Every nook and cranny, as well as each and every screw, is razor-sharp! SMART SETUP, on the other hand, was not as clear as I had hoped. To begin, download the GE App, then go to settings, then connect to the oven. On the OVEN SETUP SCREEN, you'll be directed to connect to the oven's WiFi by entering the password. After that, you can use the app to turn on/off the oven for baking or convection, as well as control the timing and any alerts you want (such as a notice that the oven has been on for 6 hours, etc. ). This works with Alexa, which is what I use, if the Geneva skill is enabled. "Alexa, ask Geneva to turn on the upper oven," you must say. ", which is more difficult than other abilities (GE- neva). Also, rather than simply turning on or off, Alexa asks clarifying questions, which is convenient because you won't accidentally mention the oven and turn it on. br>br>THIS APPEARS TO BE AMAZING! Other than that, I have mostly stainless steel items, but I do have some black leftovers. In my opinion, this works well with both. Stylish and contemporary. Very incisive. The fact that the controls turn off and don't stay lit is one of my favorite features. In a darkened room, you can see the clock, which is always on, but it isn't too bright or distracting. PROJECT COSTS FOR THIS CHANGE ARE NOT EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY E However, there are some extra expenses to consider: the cabinet and its installation, the new dedicated 40 AMP circuit, and drywall repair Changing outlets and switches, as well as minor electrical work. If you're not comfortable, there's also the installation. This isn't prohibitively expensive, but it is a significant undertaking; in the end, the total cost, with me doing the majority of the electrical and repair work, was roughly triple the cost of the oven. It's worthwhile, but keep in mind what you're getting yourself into. br>br>OVERALL, THIS IS AN EXCELLENT OVEN! And the effort and expenses were well worth it.
