I found it to be effective. It states somewhere in the manual that if you have tilted the freezer more than 45 degrees, you need to wait at least 24 hours before plugging it in. A reset of the coolant is needed, I believe. After opening the freezer, I waited for at least 24 hours before plugging it in. Because my reuseable ice cube packs only partially froze on setting 5, I think maybe the upper shelf that sits on top of the motor towards the back is colder than the front. Once I placed the ice packs toward the back, they froze just fine. Although my blue ice tray with the cover worked just fine, freezing in the front half was problematic.

In a nutshell A freezer with an integrated LED light would be an excellent idea, since it is impossible to see the product inside when the door is closed. In all other respects, this is a great freezer. It is a good size and reaches freezing temperatures well.
