No, I tried them on and they don't seem to fit properly.
Yes, but they appear to be more difficult to move forward with. They fit easily on Xbox One controllers, but the Series controllers require more force. There's nothing drastic here, and the tighter fit is probably for the best.
Yes, I've purchased two pairs so far, each of which has one that is unusable. I had already submitted the first one's return the day before. I'm expecting a replacement for the first one and will test it out. I just tried the second pair today, and they aren't working. If three different pairs don't work, I'm going to call it a day on this one.
These will not hold KontrolFreeks. The diameter of the thumbsticks is too small.
Selected User Reviews For TOMSIN Metal Thumbsticks for Xbox One/ PS4 Controllers, Aluminum Joysticks Replacement Parts for Xbox One S (2 Pcs) (Blue)
These ruined my controller's analog pots, so they only get one star. They failed to clean the parts, not because of poor fitment rubbing or anything else. I should have looked, but my eyes aren't as young as they once were, and they appeared fine. However, all of the machining dirt was up in the receptacle where these mount to the stick, and it fell into the central part of the analog sticks. The parts should be properly washed and prepped for sale, not something that the end user has to clean. Apart from that, they're fantastic. The weight on the sticks can cause overcompensation when the stick returns to zero, which is my only complaint. With more and more games not allowing external apps to control analog curves, dead zones or calibration drift are becoming a problem, and the slight kickback from the stick weight can cause your character to turn away from your original direction or engage in other "bounce" situations. Perhaps thinning the back of the thumb or replacing the springs would help, but I don't see a way to do this without using hot-glue. The analog stick was removed and air soldered. As a result, mine are no longer usable due to the presence of alum shavings. WARNING: Use a good cell phone camera or an old-fashioned magnifying glass and plenty of light to inspect. Make sure there's no crud in the receptacle by cleaning them with a toothpick. Later, I'll post pictures. br>br>After getting past the annoyance of having to open the controller, installation was simple. Sony's use of one-time clips on the shell was inexcusable. No matter how well you crack it open, it will never be OEM fit, but once the board is loose, they simply slide on.
Update: These are compatible with the new PS5 controller as well. It takes a lot longer to disassemble than the PS4 controller, but it's not impossible. Both controllers were disassembled and the joysticks were switched in about 15 minutes. I was beginning to notice the usual wear on the joystick, so I decided to give it a shot. That's no longer an issue, and it actually looks quite nice! Old review: br>br> br>I installed them and played with them for a while. I'm not sure if I like the fact that they're a little taller, but they're a lot taller than the PS4 joysticks. Enough so that it stands out. This might be too much for small hands. br>br>I'm not bothered by the lack of a rubber grip.
For my Dualshock 4, I have a pair of these that I bought a long time ago. The sticks on the xbone controller I use for the PC were beginning to show signs of wear and tear, indicating that they needed to be replaced. It was quite warm down there on the rubber. So I went out and bought a pair and put them in. I sensed a grinding on the right stick, so I opened it up a few days later to find that the stick's base was wearing down the PCB's traces. There's nothing serious about it; just a ring of exposed copper all the way around it. I removed the stick and sanded about a mm away from the base. I then taped off the area around the stick with Teflon tape. They're easy to fix and, aside from that, they're a good buy. TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL DR If you're going to put these in an Xbox One controller, use caution. Because of the way they're made, the metal will rub against the PCB and possibly chew through a trace, ruining it.
They not only feel like high-quality sticks, but they also fit perfectly and operate much more smoothly than the originals. My left thumbstick no longer sticks or drags (a problem I've noticed with the newer controllers), and the controls are more responsive than before. The only drawback is that it takes some time to get used to how they feel, and getting little grip covers, as suggested by another reviewer, may be worthwhile. I'm sure I'll be fine without them; I'm almost to the point where I don't even notice. It is entirely up to you to decide. Aside from that, it's a fantastic deal, especially since it came with tools to aid in the controller's opening. I already own a set, so I didn't use them, but they appeared to be adequate. I really regret not doing this sooner!.
Two pry tools were included instead of the one listed; to be honest, I didn't even notice those were in the listing to begin with. Fit is excellent, with no twist or slop. When you hit the edges of movement, it feels solid and satisfyingly chunky, and if there's anything to knock, it's that if you're not on the knurling, your thumbs will slide a little. There were no obvious flaws in the (presumably) casting, so this was a simple two-minute swap. br>br>I got these because the rubber on the oem sticks had worn down at an odd angle aligned with my thumb placement after 1400 hours of Destiny 2, and I figured I'd be through the rubber in a few months.
There are no burrs or deformities on the sticks, which are milled beautifully. They installed without a hitch and run as smoothly as the OEM units they replaced. They're comfortable in the hand, with just the right amount of grip, and they're always cool to the touch. They also have a very professional appearance. br>br>The screwdriver that comes with it isn't great, but the pry tool is. With the exception of instructions, everything you'll need for a successful installation is included. For someone who has never done it before and is following a video disassembly guide, it should take no more than ten or fifteen minutes.
These thumbsticks are exactly what I was hoping for. They have a great feel to them, and the production is neat and professional. When I swapped these out for the stock xbox one thumbsticks, I checked the exterior dimensions and they appear to be identical. When fully inserted and pushed to the far end of its travel, the outside rim of the right thumbstick, as noted by another reviewer, barely touches the circuit board. Because the outside dimensions were identical, I believe the internal socket on these is just a smidgeon deeper. Thankfully, the shaft and socket were so close together that simply pulling up on the thumbstick solved the problem.
