Questions & Answers

Is it capable of playing original Xbox games in the same way that Microsoft games are capable of being played?

Yes, it works in the same way.

Is it necessary for me to have a cable? Is this something that simply plugs into the Xbox?

It is dependent on the Xbox you have. This hard drive is compatible with the Xbox 360's original model. A cable is required for the slim models to function.

Would a USB extension work on a 4GB Xbox 360 Slim?

WHY? Here on Amazon, look for a 360 "slim" Hard Drive for the older "elite" models.

Is this hard drive internal or external, and is it compatible with the original Xbox 360?

It is, in fact, for the Xbox 360. It's an external device that attaches to the Xbox 360's side. There has never been a day when I've had a problem with compatibility.

product with a flaw or that has been tampered with
3/5

Initially, everything worked fine, including the hard drive, but two weeks later, I restarted my console only to see a semi-transparent screen. A red circulator with a message to contact the technical support service. My console worked perfectly after I removed the hard disk. I looked into what could have caused the problem and discovered that the hard drive was faulty or damaged. DecidiĆ³ limpiar el disco duro con una pequea toalla hmeda en caso de polvo o sucio, y dejarlo desconectado de la console por un da completo. The next day, I tried to turn on the console with the hard drive connected, but it didn't work again, and I had to disconnect the hard drive. br>br>At first, the hard drive appeared to be in good working order, but two weeks later, I turned on my console to find a red semi-circle on the screen. What I discovered was that the hard drive was dirty or damaged. In case the hard drive was dusty or dirty, I decided to clean it with a small damp towel before disconnecting it from the console for the day. The next day, I tried to turn on the console with the hard drive still connected, but it would not turn on, so I disconnected the hard drive.

It's fine; it does the job, so it receives four stars
4/5

I'm not sure if the minor game glitchiness is related to this, but my 360 never froze up before I installed it, and now it does. However, I'm purchasing components for a system that is no longer in use. You can't be too vocal about your dissatisfaction.

Yes, please give me 500 gigs for $50
5/5

I recently dug out my old 360 from storage in order to show it to my son, and I scored a slew of old game titles for dirt cheap. But I realized I'd need a lot of storage to run those games, so I bought this hard drive. I'm always a little wary of aftermarket parts, especially on such an old system, but the unit went in and out without a hitch. I will say, and I agree with a few other reviews I've read, that the drive does not just plug in; you must line up the plug exactly right, but once installed, you should have no problems.

It's sufficient (250GB)
3/5

This is a decent 360 HDD, but I'm not getting great results with downloaded games. Frame rates aren't very high - I'm not sure if it's because of the HDD or if it's a 360 issue. So I decided to open it up and see what the HDD's specifications were. Maybe some of you have heard of this brand (see photo), but in retrospect, I wish I had just bought a 7200rpm HDD and installed it in the existing shell.

Not backwards compatible with the original! Official 360 secondary partition is not included in the box, which is required for backwards compatibility with the original Xbox
4/5

However, using the official 360 hard drive USB transfer cable and some software (Google), this can be fixed. It took maybe 5 minutes to complete this task. Now it works perfectly, and the price is very reasonable for the size.

ceased to function - Be careful who you buy from
3/5

At this price, I thought it would be a good deal, so I bought the 500GB drive, but it kept showing up as unformatted after a few months, and it wouldn't let me format it. Purchased games and game progress cannot be transferred at this time.

Not only was this a fantastic find, but it's also Prime Eligible
5/5

I've had over a decade invested in my Xboxes as a founding member of Xbox Live. I have an Xbox 360 Elite with the Jasper Chipset, which solved the RROD problem for me. It was equipped with a 120 GB hard disk drive. With this year's influx of free games for Gold Members every two weeks, I was quickly approaching an HDD that was far too full. So I started looking for a bigger HDD for my overburdened machine. br>Right here is where I discovered the largest HDD ever made by Microsoft for the Xbox 360. Not only was this a fantastic find, but it was also Prime eligible and offered at an unbelievable low price for the Xbox 360's largest HDD ever. I'd also like to point out that the item is exactly as described. My Xbox 360 Elite is black, and the new HDD is gray, which is not an issue. The writing is in Chinese, so I'm guessing that's where they came from. I already had a Transfer Cable, so after migrating all of my content from the 120 Gig HDD to the 320 Gig HDD, I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that my console had a future. That is my story, and I would do it all over again. . . . . . eace.

On a Xbox 360 Elite 2014, it works flawlessly
5/5

I've read some reviews that say it doesn't work and that they get an error message or that it's not formatted correctly, but I bought it because Microsoft didn't have an official hard drive on Amazon. Despite the negative reviews, mine is working perfectly; there is no loud fan or speed up noises, and the drive is formatted to 290GB, which is to be expected given that formatting hard drives results in the loss of some data. Original Xbox games will not work! br>br>The only issue that everyone will run into is that they will not work! Official Microsoft hard drives are the only way to play original Xbox backwards compatible games. However, if you have a way to connect the hard drive to your computer, such as a Microsoft Transfer Cable or a third-party cable of some kind, there is a simple fix.
