I read all of the reviews on this power supply and, like you, was concerned about the price vs. quality trade-off. Also, this review is based on a couple of months of heavy daily use, so I've put it to the test. Other reviewers expressed their dissatisfaction with the unit's noise output. I've had the unit for a few months and it's completely silent; you wouldn't even know it's there. br>br>Construction quality: br>br> I read a review that criticized the construction for being cheap and shabby. I'm a snob when it comes to this sort of thing, but I don't see anything wrong with the manufacturer or the materials used. I found the old unit and this new replacement to be comparable when I held them side by side. Any differences in material quality or construction quality are minor. The only thing about this power brick that may cause concern is that the cable used is noticeably thinner/smaller gauge. This could be because it was redesigned, as stated in the product information, to no longer require a thicker wire, or they cut corners on the copper wires to save money. (An electrician or engineer would be the best people to ask. ) )br>br>However, I notice no difference in the performance of my Xbox One, which is used on a regular basis. br>br>I recommend this over the more expensive versions because, as far as I can tell, it works just as well. If one of my other Xboxes had a power supply failure, I would not hesitate to replace it with one of these. (I have three Xboxes, two of which have had their original power supplies fail. )br>br>At this point in the Xbox life cycle, all you need is a unit that will last you a year or so until the next gen is released.   Other reviewers must have received a different brand or model than I did because they claim it is very quiet when it isn't. The fan makes a lot of noise.

What you pay for is exactly what you get. Well, I bought it to save money, and the reviews are generally positive. Yesterday, the electrical supply arrived. It appears to be a good replica of the Xbox One power supply. It has a lower quality feel than the original, which is to be expected for something that costs less than half as much. What I didn't expect was for the fan to blow even when the XBOX was turned off. It has the appearance of being a low-cost construction. I wasn't prepared for the strong odor of hot plastic that pervades the living room, either. Even when the XBOX is turned off, it continues to do so. I'm hesitant to keep this because the power supply appears to be warmer than it should be. It was a good lesson. I'm not willing to risk the house catching fire. I would not purchase this item again.

When I got home, I turned on the Xbox (I haven't upgraded to Cortana yet). The TV remained silent. I tried troubleshooting my Kinect, but it seemed to be fine; I was certain it was the stupid power cord box. However, when I went to the local game stores, they told me it wasn't the box, but the unit itself, and that I should bring it in for a store credit toward a newer model. My Spider-Man instincts kicked in, and I went out and bought this cheap replacement adapter to try out. Viola! The only issue I had with my Xbox One S was this. So glad I didn't take the store's word for it and spend my money on a newer gaming console. A note explaining how to fix the always-on mode was included, but it didn't apply to me in this case.

offs. The Xbox had begun to shut down in the middle of a game at random intervals. As in, you're playing fine and then all of a sudden you don't have any power. It appeared to be completely random. After 2 minutes of play, I'd do it, and after 2 hours of play, I'd do it. It appeared that no particular game was glitching because it happened in all of them. After doing some research online, I came to the conclusion that the problem could be with the power supply. I decided to give it a try and bought this. That was the final word! Everything on the Xbox is now operational. This one has a louder fan, but it's barely audible when you're watching a movie or playing a game.

but it's a LOT of noise: After our original Xbox One brick failed, we decided to go with this model after doing some research and reading reviews. The good news is that it actually works. The bad news is that the fan is extremely loud and does not stop. Even if the unit is turned off, it does not work. br>br>I was taken aback by the volume of noise, which reminded me of when you put a DVD or game in your Xbox One and it goes into "high spin. " That's how noticeable it is. Worse, the FAN CONTINUES TO RUN EVEN AFTER THE ENTIRE SYSTEM HAS BEEN TURNED OFF! It's a real drag. br>br>We were hoping it was a fluke or an older model (descriptions say new, quiet model, but I'd hate to hear an older model!). ). . . so we ordered another, but when it arrived, it was slightly louder than the first! The noise level was also more inconsistent and distracting. So we returned the second item and kept this one despite our reservations. For 20- It's not bad for a few bucks. However, it is the loudest thing in our living room, which is annoying.
