These battery packs were able to hold a charge for about 5 months when used lightly. These are without a doubt the worst battery packs I've ever bought. I only bought them because they looked similar to the ones I had previously purchased from Microsoft, but they are not of the same caliber. These batteries aren't even close to Microsoft's in terms of heft and weight. Now that one has leaked, and I assume the other is in the same boat because it isn't charging, I can give an honest review. They have a knock-on effect. knock-offs, a shoddy knock-off - offs. They don't fit into the charger perfectly. To begin the charge, you must constantly move the batteries around, and just when you think you've got it, BAM! There is no longer any charge. I noticed that the batteries that came with it were a little thinner than standard batteries. So, if you already have Microsoft batteries, this charger will charge them; I wish I could say the same for the batteries included with the charger.
However, it is effective. Several years ago, I purchased the same rechargeable battery pack. It takes about 8 hours to fully charge the device. This is my old pack. None of the batteries I had on the left side would charge. If you wiggled the left side for 5 minutes until it was in the right spot, it would charge. It's difficult to keep the light red to indicate that the battery is completely dead while charging. When you go to use it, it is completely uncharged. So I reasoned that it might just be this one. So I placed a second order. It arrived quickly, but after the first charge, it appears to have the same problem as the previous one. Both sides are charging, which is good, but it takes some time to get the batteries to sit in the ideal position. So, to cut a long story short, it works, but it's a pain to work with. It will suffice if you have patience and a limited budget.
