When I first paired the remote with my Playstation 5, it didn't work When it was powered on, I was able to turn it on If the computer is in rest mode, it is I couldn't do anything else on the console with this, but I didn't have any other options. I was able to control the volume and power of my television with it. In all, I called Sony customer service SEVEN times before I finally got through to a real person, and they offered absolutely no troubleshooting and asked that I return the remote My own money had to be used for that. After returning it quickly, it had a note saying that the remote was working fine, as well as directions on how to pair the remote to the Playstation 5. If it wasn't for the apparent possibility that they think I'm an idiot (or that their own customer service rep had already run me through all of that), I might almost admire that initiative. When I get it back, I will do the following Now, it works even less than it did before, not being able to move past pairing mode despite the fact that three different sets of batteries are inside It is now almost impossible to send the original product back to the manufacturer following the return to Amazon. While the remote lacks obvious defects, it feels flimsy and light, with few features that would make it functional beyond the system itself, and the battery compartment is difficult to It would be best if PDP made their own version of this garbage before wasting time on this crap, and I wouldn't waste my time on Sony's garbage fire that is.
I wanted a software that basically did the things I wanted. Using it, I can pause movie videos and control my media apps without the use of a Two things bother me the buttons don't light up in the same way the ones on the Xbox One media remote do, and I don't use Disney+ or Spotify so those buttons are of no use to me. If I could reassign the Spotify and Disney+ hot keys I don't use to other apps, that would be fantastic. Additionally, I am not happy with the way the back of the remote looks so it wobbles around It is really easy to pause and skip with these buttons, thanks to their nice feel. As a whole, I'd say it's a good product, though its downsides are few. The Xbox One media remote (shown on the left) has a rubberized back that makes it easier to keep in place on the table. Moreover, the buttons light up when you watch a movie in the dark, so you can see what you're doing. Additionally, it lets you assign an app to a hotkey so you can pull up a media player app with just a press of a button. This one is five stars for me. I like it. We are giving PS5 a lower rating because it has more design flaws and is less customizable. As long as you don't have the Xbox remote that I used as a point of comparison, then you're sure to love it even more. Even so, I think it's a decent product. It would probably be more expensive if it were $20.
At this moment, I cannot comment on the use of the PS5 as of yet, since it has yet to be released, but my first impression is positive. When I first held it, I thought it was light, but it felt better once the batteries were inserted. The Sony batteries are included in the package, too.
In general, the remote is reliable and I recommend it. The remote control will also control the TV's volume and power. That the remote does not have a backlit button is disappointing.
This remote is great, I really love it. It's what I use all the time
UPDATE It may be a few months since I used the remote to write this review. Suddenly it stopped working with the PS5, but only with that particular model. Although the functionality still works for the TV, when playing on the PS5, you'll have to press every button once, and it will only register after a random number of times is given. As I already mentioned, it works fine with my TV and adjusts the volume. It only has problems with the PS5. I believe the battery is not dead because I replaced them, and as I said, it can still turn the TV on and off. It's a very disappointing experience especially due to the inflated price paid for these remote controls.
In spite of changing the batteries and switching them around, this remote still didn't work. I popped the batteries in and turned it on and also tried it other ways, and still it does not work. In fact, I even changed the batteries because I thought it might be the batteries, but nope, they still wouldn't.
Sony products have been a particular favorite of mine for a long time, and all of my entertainment center is As I bought a 4K Sony OLED television last year, I realized the main TV remote can also function as a PS5 remote. That's why it is a paperweight to me. My decision to purchase it would have been different had I known how the PS5 interfaces with newer Sony TVs and their remote controls. Despite the fact that I am glad the TV remote feature exists (and it works wonderfully! Check if your TV remote works with the PS5 before purchasing a PS5 remote if you have a new Sony TV. This will ensure you don't waste money on a useless remote. Thus far, the remote has worked as intended and is not having any difficulties.
