I like the new slim design & the way it looks There's no need to worry about a disc getting stuck inside because the disc drive opens similar to the PS2 slim (but there's no disc getting stuck inside), but the way they implemented it doesn't appeal to me. The spring is made from stainless steel It looks as if it's going to be incredibly durable, but the lid feels extremely thin, which makes me nervous about how durable it will be (haven't had any issues, but I'm being careful). It would have been great if Sony had included at least one USB port on the console's back. When using the PS Eye, the cable runs behind your TV stand, so connecting the Eye to the console's rear would be more natural than linking it to the console's front USB port. This looks messier and reduces the number of charging and storage ports available while the Eye is connected. Having used a Western Digital drive for the last few years, I have found the Hitachi drive in the console to be much more fragile than the Western Digital drives I'm used to.
