You're right, that should be an option in the PS3 - it has nothing to do with the headset configuration
While I'm not certain if it will work, if the PS4 is compatible with Bluetooth devices, it should. With this mic, any device that can be connected to Bluetooth can be used. With it, I connect my phone and I play on my PS3 and I plan on using it when I get a PS4.

Work Is Fun When You're Actually Doing It! The product has been in use for a few months since I purchased it in April 2015, and so far it is working well. I don't mind as long as it works. My earpiece has been not charging since a couple weeks ago, I am not sure why, but I have plugged it into different outlets around the house and have used different sets up in hopes that it might not be the earpiece itself, but it turns out to be. There was no charge - it For the couple of months that I was able to use it, it worked well, but in terms of how durable it is or how well it was built, I cannot comment. If it works properly or charges after 2 months of rather light use, then there is nothing wrong with it.
There is no high quality audio, but for the price it's worth it. It comes with a few different shell options that look nice. The battery life isn't very long, maybe two hours, but again for the price it's not an issue, and it charges quickly.
The audio on the head set is pretty poor so I would recommend running the audio out of your TV for the chat. When the mic is muted, the mic speaker produces static noise which is odd because I have the speaker off all the time so there should be no sound coming from the head pair. The other thing is, if you need a cheap backup mic, this is a great choice.
The battery life is very short. Although the mic works great, the speaker really stinks. I ended up turning off the TV sound and just using the mic, thinking I'll need to save up and purchase a set of turtle beach headphones as the set I use for my desktop work great.
I like how it works on my PS3.
I generally find it to be a low end product the speaker doesn't fit well into the ear and it is a low level speaker it can be a bit difficult to hear people well and the ear piece can't be adjusted you are pretty much stuck with it.
There is difficulty hearing, and when I do hear, it's all pretty static. It will not be recommended.
