If you have an RB2 drum set, don't fall for the negative feedback
5/5

This is an excellent buy. I have an XBOX 360 elite and recently purchased Rock Band 2, and if you enjoy rhythm games, this is a must-have. This is a purchase that should be made. Anyway, I was particularly interested in the drumming aspect of the game, so I purchased a used set for a very low price. The drums aren't particularly loud to begin with, but I'd find myself playing softer early in the morning because I was afraid of waking up the neighbors. These drum silencers were by far the best decision I've ever made! So, as I previously stated, I use these on a Rock Band 2 drum set. Before buying the silencers, I read a lot of reviews on them. If you're on the fence about whether or not these are effective, consider the following. They don't need to be, because they work. They've also made a significant difference in my game. br>br>Users have stated in multiple reviews that they would disassemble the drumset and attach the silencers so that they did not go over the plastic rim on the drum's outer edge. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY OBVIOUSLY OBVIOUSLY OBVIOUSLY These silencers are designed to not only quiet down your drum set, but also to give it more bounce. That's why they're applied to the entire drum head; they add a little more spring when you're rocking out. I'm the type of person who will follow instructions, and I didn't want to risk damaging my drums, so I simply removed the paper backing from each silencer, turned off my drums, stuck them to the drums (making sure they're centered), and pushed firmly across the ENTIRE surface of the drums. THERE IS NO LOSS OF SENSITIVITY OR MISSED NOTES. The drums are still as responsive as they were when I first bought them. If you're anything like me, one of your favorite aspects of the RB is doing a drum fill, and my ability to do so has significantly improved. Now I'm much better at doing drum rolls. br>br>The drums themselves are a little quieter, but don't let the word "a little" fool you. After the silencers are applied, the noise they make is drastically reduced. It's more of a thud than the loud clacking noise they make when they don't have the silencers on. What I've noticed is that if you really hit the drum hard without the silencers on. . . It was a very noisy environment. The noise level, on the other hand, will be fairly consistent with the silencers. You can hit them as hard as you want and they will make the same amount of noise as if you were simply tapping them. And it's when I'm trying to play quietly and not wake anyone that I lose the most points. If you're wondering whether or not these silencers are effective, read on. not any longer. They are extremely efficient and deliver exactly what they promise. They have no effect on your playing, and you won't miss any notes as a result. In fact, because you are no longer concerned about playing quietly, you may achieve higher scores. If you have a Rockband 1 drumkit, you might want to read more reviews because I haven't used a set of these on that kit. br>br>Just buy them; it'll be well worth the money to protect your drums and prevent your neighbors from calling the cops.

The Rock Band 1 QM* Drum Set performs as expected
5/5

Because my old one was beat to hell and back, I just bought a brand new Rock Band 1 QM* (yes, 1, I've tried the Rock Band 2 sets and didn't like them) - The Green Drum in particular, of course. br>br>I figured I'd get the silencers so the heads would be better protected and the noise level would be lower. I mounted them on top of the plastic rims - Just make sure you start at the center and work your way out. all the way to the rims of the wheels There will be no more CLANKING on the rims. w00t. br>br>I've used silencer pads in the past (but not these) with mixed results. One set I had was basically circular mouse pads that sat over the heads (no adhesive). Another set I bought had a stretchy material that wrapped around the plastic rim and kept them in place. In both cases, I discovered that sensitivity had been severely harmed. The first set I mentioned was even worse because the pads kept sliding around. br>br>With this product, they got it right: the adhesive is strong, and all of my hits are registered. Turn up the volume on the drum machine to 200 and - boom - It is not a problem. br>br>Now, I believe I have the drum set in the location I desire. I have a sheet of paper. aluminum- These silencers and a reinforced drum pedal I guess if I make a mistake in the future, I'll only have myself to blame. Oh, no. That's a bummer. It was a lot easier to blame things on a bubbled and dented Green Drum pad. Dbr>br>*The last two letters of the serial number imprinted on the bottom of the drum set are "QM. " I can only speak to the effectiveness of these silencers with QM, as this indicates the "series" of drum set you own.

They muffle the drums, but it's not as simple as peeling and sticking
4/5

Remove the plastic rings before putting these on, as almost everyone else has said. They should have made these smaller so that they could fit inside the rings. I give them a 4 out of 5 star rating because they are difficult to fit. br>br>However, they deliver on their promises. They do reduce the tap tap of the drums. br>br>I did not disassemble my drums to install them like everyone else suggests. Instead, I snipped the rings. To cut the screws that hold the rings on flush, I used a strong pair of snips. I separated the plastic rings and removed them one at a time. Then, to keep the screws from rattling, I Super Glued the remaining portion of them in place. Because the new pads hide everything, you can't see my "butchery. " I also never had to disassemble anything - That's why I went about it the way I did. br>br>Also, you won't need the rubber tip sticks if you use these, and you'll prefer the bounce of the regular sticks.

It is true to its word
4/5

The sound and "feel" of the Rock Band drum set is dramatically improved by these small gadgets. With them, you can go crazy on the drums without drowning out everyone else with that hollow "coconut shell" sound that the drums make when they're not silenced. Isn't it, at the end of the day, all about going crazy on the drums? br>br>The only flaw with these guys is that they don't seem to fit on all drum sets equally well. The pads don't fit well inside the plastic ring around the drum, or even inside the ring's outer bezel - at least not on mine. Because the pads are nearly the same size as the plastic ring, they don't sit flat on the drums at the edges. This hasn't been a problem for me, but it could mean that hits near the drums' edges don't register as well as they should. Instructions for removing the plastic ring before attaching the pads can be found elsewhere on the website. I decided against it because I was afraid of breaking something, but your results may vary. They appear to fit better on some versions of the drum set, according to other online comments.
