Poor quality and a short lifespan
3/5

This afterglow controller was supposed to be my favorite. With the clear case and blue lights, it looked really cool. But it didn't last long. br>br>The first one I bought (from Walmart) would freeze my games after plugging it in. Never, ever has anything like this happened before. After 6 months of use, it finally broke. Fortunately, Wal gave me a complete refund, and I decided to try my luck on Amazon. The following are the most serious issues with this second controller:

- When you press the PS3 button on the controller, it does not turn on the PS3 console. Irritating to the extreme.
- Because the controller is made of hard plastic rather than the soft plastic used on the original PS3, it caused pain in my hands after a while.
- Despite the fact that the R2 button was up, it remained stuck. br> Other things I didn't like: The R3 stick brokebr>br>Other things I didn't like: the cost of batteries that I had to replace on a monthly basis A red light flashes when the battery is low, which can be irritating at times. This second controller was only good for four months in the end. PDP is the name of the company. ) said they'd replace it because it was still under warranty, but I didn't want a new one. I was looking for a way to get my money back. They would never do such a thing. Finally, Amazon gave me a partial refund and assessed a restocking fee. So, not only did I lose money on the transaction, but I also didn't have a control panel.

It was something I really wanted to like
3/5

This controller has a great design and is a lot of fun to use. It did connect to the Nvidia shield via USB dongle, but only if you were sitting very close to it. However, it's possible that it wasn't due to the distance, but rather to a compatibility issue, as the screen blacked out in the middle of a video. game. I couldn't put my finger on it. The rumble would also be ineffective. Regrettably, I had to return to my previous location.

Unusable due to constant disconnection
3/5

I really wanted to like this controller because it looks great, it's wireless, and the analog triggers were perfect for a racing game. It would disconnect from its wireless base several times per minute after about 30 minutes of use. I thought I was sitting too far away at first, so I sat right next to my PS3, less than three feet away. The same problem persisted: if the controller wasn't pointed directly at the PS3 or if you sat the controller in your lap, it would disconnect, rendering the console useless. I'm not sure if I got a faulty wireless receiver or what, but considering the positive reviews on the store page, I was surprised. I just paid an extra ten dollars for a $30 controller, and the quality control appears to be much better, and I haven't had any issues. That's what I'd advise you to do.

It functions as expected, though I'm not aware of any way to turn off the vibration
5/5

This controller is fantastic. I bought it because it was cheap and I needed something that matched my computer's leds. I was on the fence about it at first, but now I'm not. The manual, on the other hand, could use some polishing. It's a little short on instructions, such as what the red light blinking pattern means, and the vibration can't be turned on or off with this controller. It's on by default, and I've tried for a long time but haven't been able to turn it off. Despite these issues, it's a solid PC controller that feels oh so comfortable in the hand. My palms sweat easily and a lot during long controller use, which is why the rubbery grippy area on the back of my Logitech f710 went bad/became smooth. This current pdp controller is plastic, so no issues there; the plastic is less grippy, but it does not react to sweat or food, which is a plus. It has already proven to be cleaner than my Logitech controller, as well as being easier to clean. br>br>Durability is on par with my f710 logitech pad, which I've had for more than three years and is still going strong, but the press down function for the left joystick became finicky, which is why I got this. So, when it comes to third-party and PC controllers, I'm guessing it'll be pdp and Logitech from now on.

If it does not work, do not purchase it
3/5

Check out all of the bad reviews first; that was my mistake. The controller is fine on its own, with good buttons and triggers; the joysticks aren't as precise as they should be, but they do the job. All of this is true in the case that you get to use it with the PS3, but the thing is that it disconnects from it 80% of the time it disconnects from it, like% This has nothing to do with the PS3 system; the USB dongle's connection to the controller is so weak that it prevents you from playing as you should. You should probably just grab a USB cable and a PS4 controller instead. I had hoped that this would be the best controller alternative available, but it appears that it isn't the case. It simply does not stay connected, and you are unable to play anything without putting yourself under undue stress in order to get it to work. Search for something else because this is a complete waste of money and absolute garbage.

This is not a PS3 OEM
4/5

It is not possible to recharge this device. This controller has a great design and is extremely well built. You can't use the OEM controller to start the PS3. The PS3 must be turned on at the base manually. Instead of using a charging cable, it uses two AA batteries. Also, if not in use for more than 2 minutes, it shuts down, but it starts up almost instantly and works right away. Connects to PS3 via a miniature USB dongle. It's a nice controller if you can put up with these first-world issues.

This is a fantastic controller replacement
5/5

It worked perfectly with my PS3. I had replaced the batteries in the Sony controller and had made a mistake when closing the case; those batteries are difficult to replace in the Sony. I charged the Afterglow with new batteries and turned it on; it feels great and works flawlessly. This unit won't turn on the Play Station, but that's no problem because I know how to operate a button. This controller is one I would recommend to anyone looking for a PS3 controller. It isn't compatible with the PlayStation 4.
