Questions & Answers
These cushions appear to be identical to the stock cushions that came with my Vive, and I wash them in my kitchen sink with cold water and a small amount of dish soap. I give them a good rinse, a squeeze, and then hang them to dry in front of a fan. Vive suggests wiping them down with a cloth, but since they're soaked in sweat, I figured hand washing them wouldn't hurt.
Yes, they're the ones from HTC's website, but without the $25 shipping fee.
No, this is simply the side (the pile) that adheres to the hook on the headset.
Selected User Reviews For HTC Vive Face Cushion - Wide
For the Vive Pro, it's all right. If you own a Vive, these are a must-have item; even if you're the only one playing, you'll sweat and want to swap out for a new face pad. You'll need extra face pads if you have other people over to play. These are identical to the face pads that come standard with the Vive and perform admirably. br>br>IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT The Vive Pro has slightly wider face pads, especially at the top. The face pads for the standard Vive will work, but they will not provide as much padding. If you purchase a Vive Pro and require additional face pads, keep this in mind. HTC does not sell replacement face pads for the Vive Pro as of the time of writing this review.
Pros: br>Fits well with rectangular glassesbr>Comfortable fitbr>br>Cons: br>Peels after about a year of usebr>Gets hair stuck in it easilybr>Washing in the washer must be delicate (BE CAREFUL LOL)br>br>These are the original face cushions. My mom sweated out my original due to intense Beat Saber workouts, so I had to buy new ones; they're a little pricey, but they came with extra replacements, and they last a long time under normal use. They're firm when you first get them, but after a week of breaking them in, they'll feel even better. These to 3rd party face cushions 100% are my preferred option.
Because I have a narrower face than my husband and son, I found that they were rubbing my hair off at the corners of my face, so I looked for a different solution. This face cushion was ideal; it was a little itchy at first when I started sweating during long, strenuous sessions with the first one, but after a few uses, it was fine. That is no longer the case. It's probably something to do with the new foam, I'm guessing. If you have chemical sensitivities, I'm sure you could rinse them first to remove any chemicals. I'll give it a shot before switching to the second one. Later, I will make an update. For the past few months, I've been using it almost every day for 30-45 minutes. 80 mins. After a particularly sweaty session, I simply blot the foam with a paper towel and let it air dry. With multiple uses per day, the foam has proven to be durable. When removing the foam from the headset, I try to pull on the backing instead of the foam itself. Apart from the initial itchiness, I find them to be far more comfortable than the ones I was previously using. My hair quickly regrows.
Nobody enjoys donning a sweatshirt. After someone else, I'm wearing a drenched VR headset! These cushions are machine washable and reusable, promoting a healthy and clean gaming environment. They are identical to the manufacturer's version in terms of fit and feel. br>br>It's a must-have!.
Although the comfort appears to be similar to that of the stock, I am perfectly happy with it. Keep in mind that it moves your eyes slightly further away from the lens than the Wide, so only use it if you find it more comfortable. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> Personally, I find that the wide is more comfortable when wearing glasses.
After a year of use, my old face pad was quite filthy. The backup one that came with it was designed for people with narrow faces and was extremely uncomfortable. This set of wide face cushions solved my problem, and now I can watch VR for hours without getting tired of my face!.
I bought it to prevent my brothers from using it and me from getting pimples and other problems. It works great and is exactly like the one that came with the vive. I will definitely buy more.
The HTC Vive's default face cushion is extremely comfortable, but it does not last long. The foam structure starts to become very loose after about 100 total hours of playing a physically active game like Beat Saber, where the foam absorbs sweat and then requires you to dry it out. The Vive's pressure on your face is no longer supported. In more casual games, it lasts approximately 300 hours before losing its structure.
