The Apple Magic keyboard that comes with an iMac computer doesn't have the same feel as a mechanical keyboard, so I prefer using one that has a mechanical feel. The problem with this one, however, is that it has some flaws. (1) If the keyboard is put to sleep (Sleep mode ON), Bluetooth connectivity with the iMac is lost. I sometimes wake it and reconnect, but just as often, I have to restart the installation from scratch because the keyboard is unresponsive. (2) If I turn Sleep Mode ON, the keyboard battery drains and connectivity is lost, which means that I have to install again. It appears that the only method is to use the keyboard in CABLE mode, which defeats the entire purpose of purchasing a Bluetooth keyboard. It is the Apple Magic that has a better connection There is something about its typing feel and touch that makes it more appealing. It will take me another week to assess its feasibility, but if it continues to prove problematic, I will In reaction to future events, I am lowering my rating to two stars as of February 7, 2021. Going into sleep mode does not prevent the keyboard from losing Bluetooth connectivity. We find it tedious to get it to wake and reconnect and it is time-consuming. On February 24, 2021, there is a lack of Bluetooth connectivity, which is very Returning it was an easy decision. I was really disappointed by it because it had a nice vibe.
It seems like everything works as it should. It was a no-brainer for me to get this board since my Mac has lighted keys. As far as the lights are concerned, they work, but I don't understand the motive behind all the patterns that flash. The RGB was what I wanted since I wanted colors other than white. It works well in different lighting conditions since different colors appear different under different Having mechanical keys for me is just because I like keys that move when I press them as I'm old fashioned and that's why I bought this keyboard. There's really no point in having a key sound. You can still type silently if you don't want it to make noise by not pressing the key so hard. The key registers before it bottoms out, so you can still do that. Sound and flashing lights are, for me, right there along with that concern about the sound keys make. Besides being attractive to me, this keyboard can also be disassembled. For me, that is more about potentially repairing it at a later date when it starts to break down, which is something I'll probably never have to do. So it works in all its modes, which is a good thing. One thing that could be improved is the keyboard legends, which are very small and thin, and it is hard to see them without illumination. Keychron should offer a set with a larger legend as an optional feature. There are too many switches on the side, particularly the on/off switch, and they are too small. I would like to see a switch that is slightly larger and more positive. Despite its short length, the power cord is sturdy and thick. If you don't move the keyboard around while it's plugged in, it will probably work fine. However, it pulls on the plugs which leads me to worry that it might loosen. I vote that the plug be made longer and moved to the top, middle, function key end of the keyboard. Other than that, this keyboard works as described and will be OK for my needs.
My K6 model lasted about a year, until I switched jobs and needed a 10 Key since traveling to a desk is not an option at my new job. As I had been looking for a certain one, this was it. Designed for Mac, with a rechargeable battery you only need to plug in once or twice a week. Wireless, cordless, ultra-portable device. Built quality has improved with Version 2, and it has little faults. I had no trouble replacing the switches going from Version 1 to Version 2. The RGB profiles are great, but I really just wanted a wireless keyboard with the standard Mac layout. It is slightly easier to connect the magic keyboard to Mac OS than it is to the magic keyboard, and because of this, there are fewer connectivity issues. As of the latest update to Mac OS, Bluetooth keyboard support has improved a lot. It is true that the magic keyboard has a longer battery life, but I would assume that if the backlight is turned off and Sleep mode is enabled, the performance will be comparable. In the end, the magic keyboard just can't compare to a mechanical keyboard in terms of feel, and the height and angle of this board are fantastic. In the future, I am not sure if I would change the switches, but I could see myself adding some fun keycaps. A mechanical keyboard like this on its own, with the bluetooth/usb option, mac/windows toggle, great battery life, and generally high build quality, makes it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a mechanical keyboard that won't break.
Moreover, I found the keycaps to be different heights, making my fingertips catch on unwanted keys as I moved them. I have no idea how they figure out how to market this piece of junk to gamers, but here it is anyway.
