Is there a plug included?

Yes, it has two plugs, one for daisy chaining to another controller and the other for connecting to a computer.

The new bpje2 joystick has been installed. When the bow thruster is activated, the propeller of the bow thruster engages immediately - I can't use the joystick because I don't have one. Is there something wrong with it?

I don't think so, because the two I have don't work that way.

Is it possible to use it in place of a specific brand of side power bow thruster?

When I bought the boat, it came equipped with a Sidepower thruster and a Vetus controller. I attempted to swap out the old control for this one. It was ineffective and had its own mind. I finally settled on a sidepower controller, which worked perfectly.
