Questions & Answers

The retail price of this item is twice what you are charging. Why is that?

Because impatient consumers will continue to buy above MSRP, scalpers such as this one will profit and exist. And, if you buy this yoke for $500, you have not done your research on the other yokes that are much better and only cost slightly more. You should beware of a buyer.

A large square-shaped object has the following dimensions Are you talking about the mounting piece or some ish part of it?

A yoke is larger than a mounting piece on its own. There are just over 11 inches between the yoke and the frame. If you take into account the switches and not the yoke, the depth of the yoke box is about 10 inches. There are about 10 inches of depth and 8 inches of width to the mounting piece. Based on my measurements, it should be about five inches wide. I don't want to remove the yoke.

Do you have a Mac version of Xplane?

The odds are that it will, but I am not sure for sure. I have no issues using it on my computer.

Despite being severely marked up, this item is still in good condition. The price listed on this site is more than double the pricing listed on the manufacturer's website?

Selected User Reviews For Honeycomb Alpha Flight Controls Yoke and Switch Panel

Compared to other yokes, this is a significant step forward
5/5

My old Logitech yoke was upgraded to this Yoke. The yoke I purchased from Gliem was exactly what I needed to complete the flight maneuver training I got from Gliem several months ago. I had read and reread reviews on it before deciding to buy it since I was training for private pilot. Back in the day, when I bought my Logitech, it was seen as one of the best options available at the budget end. I would have chosen this option out of the gate over the Logitech offering if it had been out earlier. There is no doubt that you are getting the best value for your money. In addition, you get a full 180 degree roll rotation and smooth elevator axis action with a minimal dead zone (I didn't notice one on mine except on the roll) and little to no binding on pitch control when rolling out of or in a turn. This is in comparison to the Logitech, which has a noticeable detent on both pitch and yaw, a huge dead zone, and a total roll limit of 90 degrees (45 degrees in each I agree, the Honeycomb is hands-down the best.

On pitch, the range of travel is approximately 5 to 10 feet Unlike the Logitech yoke, this one is 6 inches long, but without a detent and is a smooth flow so you gain half an inch of useful travel. As you push and pull harder, the resistance increases more, but is heavier than the Logitech. Even though the roll axis for resistance is almost insignificant, the Logitech had a little more to me. A short summary of what I mean is In fact, this one gives you the best value and function for the price, instead of the really expensive Yokes like Brunner or Yokos.

This is the most realistic approach
5/5

I have worn three yokes in the past two years This is an exceptional airplane and a far better build quality than you will find anywhere else. I think that the ability to control attitude near center, without being locked into a detent, is exciting The Logitech/Saitech throttle quadrant pairs nicely with it. As a result, pitch control is stiffer than previous yokes, so cruise is more realistic. Landing flare is also prevented by this stiffer pitch control. There is only one thing left to acquire rudder pedals without an There is a % detent in the center.

The roll action and pitch action of the Boeing Max X are good
4/5

There is a pitch here so sharp you will break your wrist. I gave it a 4 out of 5. There is a huge issue with pitch rubber bands that are either set too high or too stiff, and the bands cannot be adjusted. Several times I have reached out to Honeycomb and they claim that its designed that way due to Nonetheless, the yoke requires so much force to pitch up or down that it feels like a plane trimmed at the very extreme end of extremely poor. Flying 172s is much harder than flying real aircraft, I can tell you that. In comparison to other forces, the roll force side to side is extremely There seems to be no problem with the yoke. Although a real yoke is nice to have for a roll action, it makes pitch difficult. I have not returned mine yet and don't plan to do so since I don't need it To control the plane, you must always use trim. They must have measured a 172 with a broken elevator in it. As a whole, it is a nice roll and the ability to rotate very far right and left is unique but I am not comfortable recommending the product until Honeycomb The idea that this was realistic doesn't make sense to me. When I saw a real plane with pitch like this, I would immediately wonder why I do not have Note
Edit the original review up above, but as I've used it and come to like it more as I continue flying real 172s, I'm not so sure. As I tested the 172 during flight, I found that it does a better job at simulating pitch than I expected. As I mentioned in my original review, I was a bit harsh. It is quite stiff when yoking, so you have to reequip quite often -- but that is somewhat realistic since you have to reequip the real ones as well. Unless you're used to firm yokes, I would recommend this one. You might feel it firmer than you expect.

A tool that every pilot should have on hand for training
3/5

Submitted for editing We are experiencing consistent QC issues. (4/20 update below). We purchased from Gulf Coast.

We received them in a timely manner considering the current climate. The software is easy to install on XP11. As soon as the yoke is inserted into the system, the software binds all the buttons logically. All reviews say the same thing. The design of this thing is great. They are nice and snappy, the ignition switch looks silly but the action is excellent (does not return to both when start is engaged, so you have to reset it afterwards.

Feel this way A majority of my 172s and 150s are now fixed on my PPL. There isn't going to be a similar feeling to those aircraft or any aircraft for that matter. A good way to think about the yoke is how it feels as the aircraft flies period, whatever speed it is. As an example for those who have never flown an actual aircraft, let's take a 172 for example. The slower the air moves over the control surface, the more force it will require for you to control that aircraft. In the same way, you will feel more force as you drive faster. It is obvious that the effects of those inputs will increase I mentioned before that it is its own thing, and it is kind of up to your own brain to convince you that this is what it feels like.

Roll As a whole, the roll axis is smooth and most users say it can be tightened, but I'm honestly fine with it, I probably could use a little adjustment, but that would be cool. have not done any research on the topic. Nevertheless, it was smooth sailing. Here's the pitch I agree that pitch is quite tight, and many people say that too. might cause some issues during your round out and flare when you are over-controlling the pitch. Small GA aircraft have a very mushier elevator during slow flight, but, unlike real life, it is unlikely the tightness will last forever. Most sim guys have had their yokes for a very long time. This is technically a cheaper yoke, but it would still be nice to adjust it. This is related to the pitch section above. My yoke did feel a bit rough on pitch, unlike the roll axis and it may have been a combination of those two factors. There is a subtle graininess to it, yet it feels smooth. A popping sound was present during my testing of the yoke in XP11 when I rolled the yoke to the left at about 45 degrees. This was my first indication of possible QC issues. On the bottom of the control panel there was popping coming from the ethernet jack. I noticed that the jack appeared incorrectly mounted and that it had quite a bit of play in it. As mentioned previously, the left turning of the yoke pulls on the curled cable and ultimately causes the jack to pop under As a result, I began to worry that over say five years of use, will that jack have worn so badly that it would be impervious to moving parts? I don't know. However, with the price being $250, I decided to see if there was a replacement with relatively few quality issues.

Contacted Gulf Coast, they sent me a label now I am waiting for it to arrive. As soon as I get it in, I will test everything again to find out if it is consistent or better than the previous As a whole The only yoke I would buy is this one. It is extremely beneficial for any pilot that isn't working full time as a pilot to have this as well as XP11 with Pilot Edge. am in love with Because of this, I need a new one. Those are some seriously cool looking photos. When I first saw the images of the honeycomb design on the panel with lights I thought they were kind of goofy, but it turns out they are really With this device, you can set the brightness to five different levels. The lower setting really brings out the cool dark effects. A switch is a great invention. The throttle will be a great experience for me. It would have to be this company's job to work on rudder pedals as well if they knew what would be good for them. Submitted for editing Rudder pedals are on the way, they just announced it. This is a 4 star rating simply because of the small issues my unit had. *UPDATE As of today, I've received my replacement yoke, and none of the above defects were There was a knife mark on the box that I noticed was identical to the knife mark on the original yoke. As a result of a further inspection, it turns out that the twim switches have a defect, they're very loose, and not nearly as good as the first unit's switches. In particular, I remember feeling the switches for the first time and thinking, "wow these are very good quality even though they are plastic," and describing the tightness and actuation as being outstanding. In this case, this is not true. As you might imagine, I am a little upset about having to get a new The goal is to get the GC to send me one so I will not have to wait for it to arrive at their facility. Assuming it doesn't fix the problem this time, I'll get a refund from Honeycomb and then try to get another from them directly. Even though these are minor things to most people, when you're spending $250 on something this expensive, you want to be sure the product is built right. Despite the fact that it's no longer in stock, my opinion of the yoke still remains the same, it's still great, you just need to find one without defective BA parts. There is a definite complication in rating this 3 stars.

The best yoke on the market for the price
5/5

I absolutely love this yoke for all the reasons above. It is accurately made, solid, smooth, and of high quality. A game-changing upgrade to Saitek and Logitech yokes. The best results are when using This plane can be programmed for FSX as well, but it is a bit more tricky to do so. I can honestly say that as a pilot I feel like I'm flying with an incredibly realistic helicopter.
