Selected User Reviews For PowerA Joy-Con Charging Dock for Nintendo Switch
This product met my expectations, particularly in terms of the dock's appearance. The joy- Cons are easily inserted, and the overall construction is solid and well-made. One of the slots, however, stopped charging after about a month of use. I removed the bottom to see if anything had come loose, expecting a simple fix, but that was not the case. The entire side that was broken was filled with corrosion, which had to have happened from the inside somehow because the dock sits on a small shelf in the corner of the room between two other gaming systems, so there's no way it could've gotten wet without breaking all my other systems. I'm hoping that powerA will be able to provide me with a replacement product.
Charges will be levied by the convention controllers. On that side, the lights are no longer turned on, and the back left side was initially broken. I prefer a physical store for this because I can return and exchange items. Now I'm just in it for the money.
No warranty is honored. The rear right dock stopped charging after about a week of use. If I take the controller out of the slot and put it back in, I'll get the same result. When you re-insert it, it will charge for a few minutes before shutting down. Only one port on the dock now charges anything, despite the fact that it has been less than a year. If you plug it into the console dock as suggested, the dock will turn on and off every few seconds, which I can't imagine is good for the console, the dock, or the controllers. br>br>I contacted support several weeks ago, and they have so far flatly ignored my warranty request; avoid this product/company at all costs. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> 4/16/2019br>br>PowerA has finally responded to my support request on their website, stating that a new unit will be sent. When I receive it, I'll update this review. They didn't respond to my initial ticket for over two months.
The led went out after nearly two months. I'm not sure if the controller is still charging. PowerA has let me down; their products usually last much longer. Maybe it'll turn out to be a flop, but who knows. The deadline for returning it was June 2, so it was returned 22 days later.
When I unplugged it from the switch to take it on a long car ride with my son, it broke off, leaving the metal USB end plugged in. I had to use my fingers to manually pull it out. It was fortunate that it survived! It was my first time using it, and I was underwhelmed. I'd appreciate it if you could find a suitable replacement.
This charger can also be used as a storage device. A while ago, I went crazy and bought every color combination of neon Joy-O-Matics. Cons. It was quickly becoming difficult to keep them charged and organized. This charging dock solves both problems, and I can charge up to four devices at once. To Maintain Happiness- I simply unplug the dock (just in case) and use it as a storage rack to avoid the drawbacks of overcharging. 2 more Joy-filled moments The Switch charges the Cons, while the Joy-Cons store the remaining two. Con Grip (does not charge). br>br>The four Joys can be seen in the attached image. I'm happy with the dock being next to the TV on the TV stand because it doesn't take up much room and keeps things tidy.
Unlike the majority of the other options, this is a Nintendo "official" product that looks and feels good. I considered another product with transparent light-up bars, but it seemed flimsy, and the bars are far too bright, illuminating Cell Block B, and remain on all the time regardless of whether anything is plugged into them. The PowerA one shows you red when charging, green when 100% and off when you have nothing plugged in and the LEDs aren not bright enough to be noticeable and the LEDs aren.
It's a good charger that does its job well. It's well-made and does what it's supposed to do. When you dock the Switch, the status lights change from green to red (fully charged JoyCons) and vice versa. This is only an issue for those who use the Switch dock as a USB power source, but I'm concerned that the charger is overcharging my JoyCons, which would be bad for the batteries. This isn't the only reviewer who has noticed it, but it hasn't caused any issues so far.
