I'm not sure if you can use the keyboard in Rockband 3 on Xbox One because it was removed in Rockband 4. However, I believe that if you can, you will need the adapter for legacy instruments.
It is dependent on the age of the "kid." If your child is musically inclined, using the basic five keys to follow the notes on the screen can be a fantastic learning experience. A small child will most likely press all of the keys to make noise rather than enjoy the instrument for what it was designed for.
It doesn't make any noise by itself. It needs to be plugged into an Xbox 360. Unless you use the MIDI socket and connect it to something capable of doing so. I haven't given it a shot yet.
At least in Rock Band 3, which I haven't played past, pro keys are available automatically.

It looks and feels great, but no matter what I try, it will not connect to my Xbox. br>When I press the sync button, it appears to sync for half a second but never actually does, rendering it useless. I tried calling the Mad Catz tech support number that came with it, but it was no longer active. I went to their website and requested assistants, but I have yet to hear back. br>I'll return it this weekend when I have some free time. 1 star. br>br>Edited on March 30th: I received a replacement from Amazon customer service, and it works perfectly.
I thought this would be fun for my son, who is learning to play the keyboard. He did! He had never been a big fan of Rock Band before. He's been playing it almost every day since Christmas. This keyboard is superior to most Rock Band controller instruments in terms of quality. It feels and plays very much like a regular keyboard, which I found to be quite impressive. Now if only they'd made more games with which this could be used.
My primary instrument is expert drumming, but my sister plays keyboard, which we purchased to test on Rockband 3. It works great, the keys are comfortable to use, and the colors are clearly labeled. The whammy is on the handle; it's a touch pad, so you can whammy the note by moving your fingers across it. In addition to the touch pad, there is an overdrive button. br>br>On rb3, regular mode requires you to use only your right hand to play five keys labeled by colored dots. On pro, you can use all keys and the color panels will label them for you. The notes on pro are fairly easy to read in the game, and the track is illuminated by colors that correspond to where you should be playing. It displays ten keys at a time and occasionally displays blue arrows indicating which way the track will jump. It's difficult at first to re-adjust your hands to match the color shift, but it gets easier after a while. I believe (but am not certain) that you are only required to play the right hand notes; however, you are free to use both hands, as I am. br>br>Overall, it's a lot of fun, and you won't get bored easily; however, mastering Phish's Llama, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, and Yes's Roundabout will take some time. I'd always wanted a rock band 3 keyboard, but the cost put me off. I loved the idea of playing my Billy Joel collection on it, but at around $70 to $80, I couldn't justify it. However, I was pleased to see it go on sale and purchase one. So far, I'm quite pleased with it. For the past week, I've been playing it every day and am quite pleased with the quality. My only real gripe is that you can't have the full band with the keyboard; you have to sacrifice vocals or a guitar/bass. br>My only real gripe is that you can't have the full band with the keyboard. That was a bit of a letdown, in my opinion. Also, without my dlc tracks, there wouldn't have been a very good selection of songs to play with the keyboard; yes, you can play the guitar parts on other songs with it, but there aren't many that support the keys pro option, which allows you to play the actual piano parts of the songs on the disc. br>Aside from my complaints, I'm glad I got the item on sale. I've been having a lot of fun learning a new instrument to play in the game. It's a tad bit of a challenge. I've already gotten pretty good at playing the guitar and drums, so this has prompted me to return to the game.
The wireless keyboard for Rock Band 3 (XBox 360) that I purchased here (on Amazon) was brand new and still in the box, complete with all of the necessary paperwork and batteries. Rock Band instruments are no longer available for purchase in retail stores, as they are no longer carried. Even video game specialty stores don't have much more than the occasional used instrument, and it's usually for the PS3 (I have an XBox 360). br>br>I'm (cringe) 48 years old, a music fan (and dabbling musician) who recalls many an air guitar session to my guitar-playing father. "Back in the day," as in "back in the day," as in "back in the day," as in "back in ") when she was a adolescent. I've only been playing Rock Band 3 for a few months, but my wife and 7-year-old daughter have joined in after seeing how much fun I'm having. It's hilarious and a lot of fun to play as a "group. " My wife grew up playing the piano, and after watching me play Rock Band 3 for a while, she said, "I kind of wish I had a keyboard. " I secretly placed my order, and we've been "jamming" ever since. br>br>It's more fun to play with your family (or friends) than it is to play alone, especially if you're looking for opportunities to spend time with your family. So, now I have a keyboard, two guitars, two microphones, and a drum kit. br>br>Did I say Rock Band 3 is a blast to play? R. br>br>R. br>br>R. br>br>R. Martin.
When Guitar Hero 1 was first released, the idea of playing a game with a 5-string guitar was revolutionary. It was almost too much awesome to handle, playing a buttoned plastic guitar and living out your rock fantasies with little or no practice. br>br>Then there was rock band, which made your rock fantasies a little more real because you could act them out with all your friends and pretend you were in a band. br>br>By 2011, this concept had lost its luster. They needed something fresh to shake things up in the genre, and just when I thought it couldn't get any better, BAM! In standard mode (or whatever it's called), it functions almost identically to a guitar controller. You have five buttons, one for each finger, and you play them as they slide across the screen toward you. In Pro Keys mode, the controller's true magic shines! You play every note on the keyboard in pro keys mode, and the fretboard becomes a jumble of tiny notes as you frantically search the keys. It's absolutely incredible. Unlike the 5-button approach to guitars, it really makes you feel like you can play keyboard. I've yet to purchase a professional guitar, but one of these days I'll give in and spend all of my money on one because if it's anything like this, I'm sure I'll want one! br>br>Warning: your rock fantasies are about to become a lot more real.
