Support for modern controllers is not fully implemented
3/5

Having thoroughly tested this on the SNES Mini Super Nintendo that was the SNES Classic, I can attest to its quality. My experience with the 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller, the Xbox One controller, and the Nintendo Switch Pro controller are detailed below. This is the main point I want to make You might find it helpful to read the following I am very disappointed that the retro receiver does not work as well as I would have expected, and the support team refuses to resolve What I have found is as follows There is a significant amount of lag when using the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller with the retro receiver. Whenever Mario jumps, he is delayed for a second or half second, causing him to miss his jumps and die. There's a lot of problems with it. Another glitch with this controller is that it offers no support for the retro receiver. For SNES games on the SN30 Pro, it works pretty well right out of the box. For the Xbox Controller, the same is true. The only problem is that there is a major flaw The L3/R3 buttons and right analog stick of these modern controllers can't be accessed on your SNES mini with this retro receiver. As long as you're only going to use it for NES games, this is fine. You will be disappointed if you "altered" your SNES mini and put some other games on it, using a program called RetroArch. The retro receiver will not map or accept signals for the right analog stick on both of these controllers, for example. You can map and use the analog stick on RetroArch, but not on both of these controllers. It's quite annoying to deal with this. There is a reason behind this, according to support. The 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller ONLY can be made to work with this right analog, however downgrading the firmware to an early beta version will help. This trick is only valid with an SN30, and not with other controllers. You will have to downgrade it again to use the left analog stick if you accidentally bump the retro receiver's Bluetooth sync button, and it will forget your controller if you accidentally bump the button while it is syncing. As a result, this solution does not allow swapping to other Bluetooth controllers at will, since you'd have to re-update the firmware to sync it, then downgrade the firmware to then hope for the right analog to work, which will not work as well. In addition to that, you must also downgrade both the firmware and the operating system on the SN30 Pro in order to use this trick. We are dealing with a terrible situation here. It is described on reddit that you can use this clunky workaround to use the right analog. Here are some details that you can find by using Google 8bitdo SN30 PRO / SF30 PRO correct setup to play on NES mini / SNES mini nearly fully. Full Analog Stick compatibility with L1 R1 L2 R2" and "Compatibility With Analog Sticks and L2 R2" Be sure that you have one. The beta version of the firmware for the retro receiver is version 05. On controller, there is firmware version 23. An analog stick did not work on the N64 core, but now it does with this configuration. It now works as two separate buttons, L1 and L2. *) Sidenote Even with this clunky workaround, the L3/R3 buttons, which are the buttons beneath the analog sticks, will still not function. Therefore, even though RetroArch also allows them, the retro receiver does Having a controller with the D-pad on your SNES mini might be an advantage, regardless of whether your SNES mini is altered or not The pad on the SN30 Pro is on the left in the same manner as the layout on the SN30. Due to your preference for SNES and NES games, you will still be using the controller for these Bottom line Think about it if you want wireless controllers that use If you use a BT controller with it, it can be used on other devices as well, including your computer and you can probably use it on gaming systems in the future. Due to the layout of the D-sub, the SN30 may be the best controller option for you if investing in new controllers for this. Using a tablet. Thanks, and cheers. Let me know if you found this post useful - I took 20 minutes to write it.

This is really good I am so glad I switched to this controller rather than the stock one
4/5

NES classic and the included controller are useless when the cable is so short, but otherwise the device is very nice. The NES is being played now with Wii remotes, Wii U pro controllers, and PS3 controllers, which I got after getting a couple of these. It is possible to use all of them without issues. With the adapters, Wii/Wii U games that support the pro controller on the Wii/Wii U work just as well as games for the SNES. Additionally, the home button on connected Nintendo controllers for classic consoles can be used to return to the menu in addition to the button combo available with all controllers. I liked that the manufacturer provides firmware updates to fix any quirks that have arisen over time. I found the adapters to be easy to pair with most controllers, but with a PS3 controller, it took more effort. To pair the PS3 controller with a Windows PC, you will need a Windows PC. This manual is not included, so you will need to refer to it. They should have at least put a QR code on the package so that we could access thing negative I am able to say is that when two of them are active right next to each other they can get quite kooky. In theory, I think two Bluetooth radios placed an inch apart could work together without interference, but I cannot imagine how that could be done. By hanging the second adapter off a controller extension and picking up a controller extension, I was able to solve this problem. My clogged drain has not been an issue since I put a little distance between them.

The SN30 pro on a classic SNES! I am updating
4/5

I tried my controller and receiver again but they did not sync the second time. This is my second attempt at We paired the classic and SN30 pro, but once the classic had been paired, the SN30 pro stopped responding to input. The receiver and the controller have both been updated with the firmware, but it hasn't worked. In the end, I decided to try a different mode, pairing the controller with "Android" mode and it all On the SNES classic, the guide button still works on android mode, so that's nice. On top of that, the controller's turbo function is available in SNES classic mode. Inconsistent pairing and syncing behavior earns 1 star. There was something I really disliked about the SNES classic its incredibly short cords. Then I made the decision to pick up one of these up receivers so I could use the SnN30 Pro on my As soon as the package arrived I began to tear into it, and put it into the snes immediately. It does not click in like the SNES classic controller, but then again you won't be handling As far as pairing goes, I was not aware that I needed to start the controller in switch mode, so I had a bit of difficulty. As soon as I figured out how to pair them, everything worked It's the guide button on the SN30 pro that I like the most. I'm no longer required to switch games on my SNES classic by getting up and hitting the reset button! It is now possible to do everything wirelessly. 8bitdo, thanks for your kind words!.
