The housing is of a slightly higher quality than standard china grade, with molded branding on the front. It does have a pouch LiPo battery, but it is slightly underpowered. Because it is physically small and unmarked, claims of a 1200mah capacity cell inside are unlikely to be true. The controller board is a newer version, but when the PSP queries it, it claims to be an 1800mah battery. It reports a reasonable 20°C temperature to the PSP, unlike older controller variants, but that value appears to be hard coded. Because the actual temperature is not reported to the PSP, claims of a thermal sensor are almost certainly false. It hasn't fixed the stability problems, either; in fact, my battery died after the first charge cycle. The battery must still be opened to reboot the battery controller. It was also rejected almost instantly by the standalone PSP battery charger, indicating that something isn't quite right with the communication protocol. Despite better components and physical construction, they haven't managed to make a better battery at the end of the day.
Prior to discovering this gem, I had purchased other batteries in the hopes of extending the amount of time I could play games and watch movies before needing a charge. The other batteries I bought were a waste of money. One lasted only 15 minutes and had a 3600 mah capacity. I remembered what I had learned and chose this battery. In my opinion, the Ostent 1200 mah battery is the best. I'm going to give myself a 2 out of 5 stars. 5 - It has a battery life of three hours before it needs to be charged. The Ostent is a solid battery with a low price point in a sea of false claims and poor quality. It's a good replacement that won't let you down.
This is the worst battery replacement I've ever had for my PSP, and I won't buy it again.
On the PSP, the battery is a perfect fit. 3001 The problem is that the battery is not able to maintain a charge. When the unit is plugged in, it works, but as soon as it is unplugged, it shuts down. Other vendors should be sought out.
Good deal.
A spare battery should always be kept on hand.
