Yes! Most cheap third-party companies making any type of av cable don't bother fixing this. I believe the actual system has the audio pins flipped, and to fix this, Sega did the same to the og cables.
Selected User Reviews For Hyperkin HDTV Cable for Saturn
I used to hook up my Saturn to an S-drive. My current TV does not have an S-Video input, but I do have a video cable. Video input is available. After experimenting with a few other adapter options, Hyperkin (whose products I've previously used and found to be excellent) released exactly what I was looking for: a sturdy and reliable HDMI option for one of my favorite systems. My Saturn games have never looked better than they do now, in terms of both picture and sound. This book comes highly recommended.
The sound began to fade and eventually stopped working. I now have a video on the screen but no sound. Stay away.
After a few months, the sound begins to fail! Do not make a purchase! I bought this Hyperkin HDTV Cable for my Sega Saturn because I needed a cheap way to connect hdmi to old consoles. When I first got this cable, it was simple because I could play with it, but after a while, the sound begins to fail and makes a scratchy noise as if it were about to explode or something. I initially assumed it was my sega saturn because it was old, but when I tried it on another sega saturn, I was having the same problems; it appears that the sound chip is failing and becoming unusable. I should have spent a little more money on a better cable, such as Rad2X. I am currently on the lookout for one.
I had faith in this product, and it did not disappoint; if you own a mClassic, I highly recommend either this or the Pound version; the picture isn't the best you can get, but if you just want a decent picture coming out of your Sega Saturn without jumping through hoops or spending a lot of money, this is the product for you. Although I'd recommend getting a HDMI switch box and connecting a mClassic to the output to get the best results, this version has the HDMI cord built in, so unless you get a switch box, you won't get the best results out of this product without it, but it's still pretty good for the quality and price on its own.
It has been confirmed that there is a 720p output with audio. Compared to my S-, there has been a significant improvement. A video connection is available.
so far. The audio was reversed in the first one. The first wouldn't work on one of my Saturns from Japan. For a while, it did. The sound went to mono, and then it died completely. So far, the second one has been extremely successful. Since then, I've been using my old Saturn.
Even if you aren't a perfectionist, this is still preferable to composite.
My Saturn has never looked better. This is a must have. Fills the screen and looks hd perfect. I've used it on a 4k 55 sharp tv and a sylvania 1080p tv, and the cord works great on both.
