Questions & Answers

Without the legs, how tall is the red basin? Is it possible to get the legs separated from the table (for a more flat package)?

Because the legs are separate, it must be put together. That is, you place the legs in the red basin's hole. The basin is approximately 4 to 5 inches deep, as far as I recall. Everything is packaged in a flat(ish) cardboard box.

Is it possible to use this instead of a sand table as a water table? or would there be a leak in the system?

I used this product in my 2-year-old classroom with water, sand, slime, shaving cream, and other materials, and it never leaked from the table, only splashes from the kids having a good time!

Is it capable of containing liquid?

It holds water, but the lid does not close tightly enough to keep rain out.

Is the sand included or must I purchase it separately?

You'll need to go to a LOWES, Home Depot, or other similar store and purchase two 50lb. bags. br>They should be able to load it into your vehicle for you. For a good amount of children's play, you'll need about 1 1/2 bags. br>OR, if you want to spend a lot of money on colored sand, go to the WWW. However, it is costly.br>I bought this for my grandchildren and keep it on an enclosed porch so they can play with it even when it is raining.

This table is ideal for my home daycare, which I run
5/5

This table is ideal for my home daycare, which I run. I purchased two of them, one for sand and the other for dirt/construction. Rain is kept out by the lids. Those who are complaining about this must not have properly secured the lid. On both ends, there's a bungee cord that hooks into a hook. I used to have an older version of a Step 2 sand table with the same type of lid and it was never a problem.

The competition "The World's Strongest Man" should include assembly
3/5

I purchased this sand table without first reading the negative reviews. That's usually where the truth is found. Nonetheless, I would have bought this table despite the one-star reviews. Why? Because I'm not bothered by "assembly issues"! br>br>*Flexes muscles* (heh)br>br>So, when this table arrived, I decided to put my 230 pounds of muscle (ok, ok. ) on it. I'll admit, there are a few extra pounds there) to put to good use. HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, HOLY HOLY HOLY HOLY HOLY HOLY MOLY. br>br>Let me begin by saying that those one-star reviews are genuine. To put this sand table together, you'll need a lot of patience. I had to go over the instructions three or four times to make sure I wasn't missing anything, which I wasn't because they were only three or four images long. br>br>In a last-ditch effort, I pushed myself as hard as I could. Let me tell you something. In the end, I managed to separate a plastic seam in the leg's bottom! Thankfully, the leg didn't completely disintegrate, so I tried a different approach with a push/rocking motion and eventually got one leg to snap in. That was a great ten minutes of my life. ONE LEG, ONE LEG, ONE LEG, ONE LEG, ONE LEG, ONE LEG, AND ONE TEN MINUTES TO BE EXACTLY ON TIME. I took my new found approach of rocking/pushing and was able to snap in the last three legs within fifteen minutes, sweating like I had just gotten out of a spin class but relieved I had finally gotten a leg in. br>br>It's a hit with my 2-year-old son, and his dinosaurs have found a new home.

To keep toddlers occupied, set up a sand trap
5/5

I bought this for my toddler to keep him occupied and busy while I'm at work. Anything to keep you from indulging in screen time with him, and this sand table does just that for about 20 minutes. So now I just need to figure out what I'm going to do for the next 13 hours. This table appears to be fairly sturdy, and I move it around a lot without it becoming unstable. I used 25 pounds of high-end $$$ sand, which seems like a reasonable amount. It claims to hold up to 40 pounds comfortably, but I believe that any movement of the sand at that weight would cause it to spill. The fact that this sand table has a tightening and secure lid is one of its best features. This keeps the boogie man at bay because my wife is afraid of sand fleas (which is another story). It's a great option for a toddler's backyard.

The cover does a good job of keeping out general debris, but it does not keep out insects
3/5

This only works if there's an overhang nearby. We have a deck without a roof, and even with the cover on the table, it filled with water after one rainstorm. With a lot of sand in it and a big mosquito trap, draining it is a real pain. The cover keeps out general debris but not water, so keep that in mind.

As a Sensory Table, it's ideal! I bought this for my almost two-year-old and five-year-old to use as a sensory table
5/5

It's of good quality and incredibly simple to assemble. For the younger one, this is the ideal height. My 5-year-old can play with it comfortably while seated on her knees. The table isn't quite as deep as I expected, but that won't be a problem for us. There is enough space for several children to play and explore. br>br>For our first sensory experience, we bought a 2 oz bag of water beads, which filled the table to the brim. It was a lot of fun. The kids were kept occupied for well over an hour and were irritated when they had to stop playing because it was bedtime!.

This is something that both my almost 3-year-old daughter and her almost-5-year-old friend enjoy
5/5

Despite the fact that I put this together fairly quickly. UPDATE: We had some terrible storms, and when I opened up the sandbox after the yard had dried out, there was water sitting in it, so my husband drilled a couple tiny holes in the bottom, which was no big deal, but this box has done very well up until those storms, not holding water and/or drying out with the regular rainshowers we've had. br>ORIGINAL: br>This is something that my one-year-old son, my almost-three-year-old daughter, and her almost-five-year-old friend all enjoy. I was able to put this together fairly quickly, though I did have to "shave" the plastic inside one of the leg holes because it was warped, but that was no big deal because I had a boxcutter on hand. It was easy to use a 50 pound bag of sand, and it washes out quickly when it rained. It comes with two bear claws, a shovel, a bucket, and I'm not sure what else, but it does come with some cute accessories to get the kids playing, and all of the included toys fit inside the sandbox with the lid closed. And there's a car track on the top of the lid, how cute is that? I'm a happy mama, thanks!.

Even after four years, two HURRICANES, and four years of Houston sun, it still looks brand new
5/5

I bought this for our young daughter four years ago. It has survived the scorching sun, two relocations, and two hurricanes and still looks brand new. Even the elastic straps are functional. No, the lid won't keep out the rain, but it will keep things clean. It can easily hold 50 pounds of sand, doubles as a water table, and has no cracks despite exposure to the sun and weight. br>br>I'm re-reading this because it's still a favorite in our backyard, with kids ages 2 to 13 fighting over the space. I'm about to buy a SECOND one, and I'm trying to figure out how to elevate it for taller kids, even though no one seems to mind kneeling or leaning over. Lakeshore Learning pure white sand is what I use to fill it.
