Beach sand, such as that found at HD or Lowes, 50 lb bag about $2, will fill one side and leave a little extra for later refilling
I decided to call my sister because I was giving this as a gift. She stated that both sides have drain plugs, so I assume that both sides can hold water. I hope this information is useful!

The table is fantastic. It's a good size and a good height. Easy to assemble (4 legs, each with 2 screws). The umbrella was larger than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise, and the lid is convenient, with two bungy-type bands attaching it to the umbrella. It's a hit because I filled it with 12 pounds of knetic sand. My two-year-old and five-year-old children are shown in this photograph.
It's truly incredible! Our 5-year-old daughter never stops playing. We got it for her birthday in January and filled it with rice before bringing it inside. We moved it outside and filled it with sand and water because it's finally warm enough. It's all she can think about!.
I spent three days reading reviews, visiting various websites, and searching local stores for the table that would best suit my soon-to-be three-year-old. We chose this table, and I'm so glad we did. We currently use both sides for water only, but we intend to bring it inside this winter and use it as a sensory table. She doesn't have to bend over and can still reach all sides because of the height. It's big enough for her two cousins, ages 3 and 6, to play together without bumping into each other. Because we have a large tree in our back yard, I wasn't sure we'd use the umbrella, but it's come in handy on the few occasions we've moved the table to different locations without shade. The table is extremely sturdy, and we have had no problems with it thus far. I like how the legs are screwed in rather than just popping in like most tables. Once attached, the lid is extremely secure and will not come loose even in high winds. This table comes highly recommended by me to anyone looking for a table that can be used in any season, indoors or out.
This was purchased for my 8-month-old daughter, who is just starting to walk and is fascinated by everything. She enjoys going to the beach, so I thought this would be a great idea because it includes both water and sand; for the price, I'd say it's well worth it; she enjoys it! The only con I can think of is that it leaks no matter how tight you tighten the drain plug on the water side. It doesn't drip excessively, but it does have a consistent drip. So I moved it outside on my patio, where I won't mind if it leaks. br>Easy to put together, I didn't bother with the screws they sent because you basically have to make the holes for them and this isn't the type of toy that's going to fly in the air haha the legs are sturdy enough that it won't fall over even if it's flipped.
I believe I used about 25 pounds of. This was purchased for my daughter, who is two years old. We use it with both sand and water, but they get mixed up. It's something she really enjoys. She has the ability to play for up to 45 minutes on her own! That's a big endorsement for a two-year-old. Of course, it's a little messy, and you'll have to change clothes and track sand around the house after playtime, but it's not a big deal and well worth it for the amount of time she spends playing. It's well-made and long-lasting. I believe I used about 25 pounds of Home Depot play sand. The lid is convenient, and there are drain plugs on both sides so you can drain it after each game. It was well worth the money.
This was a gift for my 18-year-old daughter. This summer, she'll be a month old, and she'll be thrilled. It worked perfectly after we simply filled both sides with water. Since the lid is only for water, I haven't bothered to use it very much; I simply drain and refill it every day. It's also a hit with the dog! It's his water bowl outside, he thinks. The only flaw is the flimsy umbrella, but I bought it for the table, not the umbrella. It's very simple to clean; whenever it becomes too dirty, I simply wipe it down with disinfecting wipes. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.
This was a gift for my one-year-old daughter, and she absolutely adores it. She enjoys playing in the sand and water, which assists her in maintaining her balance and encourages her to walk. I would strongly suggest this item to anyone with small children who wants to provide them with hours of entertainment.
There are a lot of leaks. I knew Step 2 had great products, so I didn't hesitate to buy it. It, on the other hand, leaks profusely. Water seeps into the table, making it extremely heavy and difficult to move. It comes out of a seam on the table's bottom side. We keep it in the garage so it doesn't blow away during storms, but our floor is always wet from the mystery leaking despite draining the water side. br>br>The umbrella isn't as stable as I'd like it to be; any amount of wind causes it to wiggle, and if a larger child or adult stands too close, they get hit by the umbrella's movement. br>br>This table is a favorite of my 2-year-old son. Even with the annoying leaking and wobble of the umbrella, it's been wonderful to be able to play outside. When not in use, we pull the drain on each side to drain the water, and we snap the lid on to keep bugs and animals out. If you're torn between this one and another, I'd recommend the latter. After you empty it, maybe it won't leak all over the place for a few days.
