Hey Robyn, nice to meet you! It's definitely in a box when you get the Dinosaur Dawn Dawn Floor Puzzle. I'm pretty sure Ravensburger also makes the Thomas puzzles, but I am not sure if they come in a box.

This puzzle is a hit with our son, who is 3 years old. The bag is a good size and the pattern is not too complicated so that he can figure out how to use it and get satisfaction from it. The material is sturdy and heavy. Having duty pieces around makes me less concerned when he steps on them as we wonder around the completed masterpiece to celebrate his amazing skills at solving puzzles.
As our daughters grew up, we purchased several of these sets for them. They were great for both of our girls (ages 3 and 6). I really enjoyed making these puzzles and they're of very high quality. I am amazed at how well kids even at a very young age can do with these. As my girls got very good at these, they loved the positive reinforcement and praise for a job well done. I never imagined that my 2 1/2 year old would be able to put it together so easily after only a little practice. This book is highly recommended!.
We love puzzles because our son is obsessed with them! The puzzle was given to him and he worked on it by himself in just five minutes! A few weeks later, the puzzle doesn't seem to lay flat, the pieces are not sticking together as well as they should, and the puzzle seems to have warped. I still like it and it was a good buy for my 2 year old.

This is a great puzzle. The colors are vibrant and no other issues were noted, except that the top right corner of the border was missing. I liked the quality of the puzzle, but it was crappy that it only came with 23 pieces. It was for that reason that he returned.

There are so many puzzle pieces that have been badly damaged on the edges, even though the box was in perfect shape. It is of very poor quality and does not stand up to repeated use, especially for the target audience.
