The base does not need to be plastic. Best for use on a hard surface like a tabletop, but I would keep it on the lid if required to use anywhere else. These sets do not always include a lid so I would never recommend getting one of these. I found that design to be shortsighted. Each and every day, pieces go missing. You can choose. Each set comes with its own storage container, so you have to buy one for each. Except for Santa Claus, everything else is normal. I didn't want to buy a shallow storage bin for just this toy set because he is in a tray with no lid, but he is such a fun, whimsical toy for Christmastime.

Here is a Melissa and Doug magnetic show horse and dog set that I ordered I purchased this Dress & Wooden Figure set for my granddaughters age 3 and 6, who are both growing up. The ability of Melissa and Doug toys to stimulate creative play is something that never ceases to amaze me. It doesn't last quite as long as I had hoped because both of my kids love horses and dogs. My grandson falls on the low end of the age range, and my granddaughter falls on the high end, so honestly this didn't hold their attention as long. However, I feel the toy would be better suited to My grandson will be able to manipulate the clothes better in another year or two and will have a lot more fun with this set then. Thus, there should be no reason to criticize the item. As you would expect from Melissa and Doug, it is durable and of high quality. In my opinion, this is a better idea than the classic "paper dolls" that quickly wear out, or become torn and ripped. It can be very fun dressing up the characters and making up stories about them for kids in the recommended age range, so I gave the toy five stars.

Any little boy or girl that loves animals will just adore this book! This type of set has dolls. We have other sets like this. The dolls are really cute, but some of the kids that come here aren't attracted to them. Their needs are met with this. There are coordinating or matching sets for the two animals, which I find very appealing. In case they wish, they can come together in a matching outfit, or each can be dressed The first time I tried this out was with my four-year-old granddaughter, then we tried it again with a three-year old relative who I found both sets of this set to be entertaining. It was enjoyable for my granddaughter to use it by herself, but it was also a lot of fun for my granddaughter and my son to play with together. In addition, its size complements your doll collection, if you have any, so play can be extended even further. In keeping with the dolls (which are more familiar to most of us), the pieces are made of wood, and the accessories are.

Melissa and Doug products have never let me down. I own many of their products. My experience with this set was the same as previous ones, so I am very impressed by the quality and design. This is for my daughter, who will have a birthday in 2 months, which I bought for her. There is a little wooden carrying case included, and the whole thing is easy to store. There are small holes on either side of the top part of the figure that hold the figures of the horse and dog. Essentially, it works like a lid for the wooden tray, which prevents the magnetic pieces that are stored inside from falling out. It slides into the grooves of the top and acts like a lid to keep the pieces in place. In addition to a handle on the wooden box so she can carry it around, it has a cute little wood decoration on the front of it. In addition to the D figures, you also get a small green plastic holder that can be put over the stand so they stand upright. Besides the hats, outfits, bows, hair pieces for the horse, and little accessories such as a dustpan, there is a wide selection of other gear as well. Magnets are strong and hold their position well. This is a really adorable game and I recommend it.

I am in awe of the beauty and manners of the horse I made it. Even when flipped upside down, the accessories stay nicely attached. The accessories are clever and varied, and stick on quite well. The horse and dog have little stands to allow them to stand upright, and I especially like the style in which the box is designed so that it can contain all the pieces, and that the magnets are strong enough to hold the figures on the outside quite firmly. The truth is, it's nearly impossible for a small child to get them out of their nest without assistance. This is so good- Love how this is made, so much fun, and so compact.
