The concept of this is really appealing to me. The caterpillars will have no problem finding a home here. Yet I have had five caterpillars attempt to make their "J" on mesh as they made their way to becoming chrysalises. In four of five cases, the fall was not successful. It clung to mesh but couldn't hold on. With the advice of other butterfly people, I carefully glued their bum end to the Q-wire Tip them again and hang them again. Our family raises Monarch butterflies like many others, and we like to set up the enclosures outside for the milkweed plants unless it gets really cold outside and then we bring the plants inside.
