Each weather kit allows both the parent and the child to learn about various aspects of the weather. They can be purchased separately and enjoyed, or you can buy one to see if your child is interested in it and then buy the second set to complete the experience, but either kit would be educational and interactive on its own. The answer truly depends on the child, so if you are unsure of weather (haha, get it? ) If you're not sure whether or not your child will be interested in weather "experiments," buy one or the other and buy the second set if they are. Despite the fact that you asked 6 months ago, I hope this information is helpful.
It isn't made of metal, Bill. It's made of vinyl. It would be better if it were made of metal.
The weather kit creates a REAL WORKING WEATHER STATION, which is why it's "reusable." We've used it for 22 kids at the Da Vinci Science Center. and intend to use it once more in December 2014 (for a total of 25 children). Its purpose is to track weather changes, plot data, and allow students to share their findings in order to learn how temperatures in one town can vary greatly. and are not always identical to those found at the AIRPORT!

" NOTE: This kit requires the use of an alcoholic beverage (such as vodka), a heat-emitting desk light (LED light bulbs will not work), and a computer or television that emits heat and is large enough to hold something on top of it. Although it appears to be a good kit, we were unable to complete several tasks because we lacked the necessary supplies or circumstances at home.
Squat is not measured by the "anemometer. " I bought it, got it, and read the instructions, which clearly state that the anemometer does not measure precise wind speed. The truth is that it doesn't even measure wind speed. It's nothing more than a gilded pinwheel. An anemometer, on the other hand, does measure something, whereas this does not. br>It's completely deceptive advertising. "For measuring local weather conditions, the kit includes a functional wind vane, an anemometer, a thermometer, and a rain gauge," the bullet says. " One could argue that it expresses a functional anemometer literally or that it implies one. If it's a "functional" anemometer, it should be able to measure wind speed in either case. However, this is not the case. This is something you don't find out until after you've purchased and received the item.
Junk. It's light and airy. We put some water in a bottle and screwed it on. When I checked for rain water, I discovered that it had tipped over and broken. There is no bottle in the Chinese plastic. Make sure you don't throw your money away.
My son had been looking forward to opening this for a week, and the wait was not worth it. The contents inside were worth about 50 cents, and you'll need to have some household items on hand because, after all, who doesn't have potting soil on hand? Also, don't waste your time if you don't have a desk lamp. Such a letdown.
For kids, this is a decent weather station. It's made of plastic and is small, and they thought the terrarium idea was a good one for some reason. It was helpful to demonstrate the different aspects of weather that we track and to see how they work in practice. If you don't put something in your bottle, it won't stay upright for very long, and even a terrarium won't stay upright if there is a strong wind. The compass is a bit of a splurge, but the rest of the kit is functional.
Today, I opened it up to do some science experiments with my homeschooler. Several of the items have gone missing. I don't have any thermometers or pH test strips with me. It didn't look like the box had been opened. I must now complete the run-through. Attempting to have these items replaced or purchasing a completely new kit has been a waste of time. very dissatisfied br>br>br>br>br>br>br>.
This was a huge letdown. It's a great concept, but it's a disaster to put into action First and foremost, the terrarium is an afterthought, despite its prominent display on the packaging. There are no seeds, nothing, and it is barely mentioned in the instructions. Despite extensive troubleshooting, the compass was the only part of the weather station that worked correctly.
This was a birthday present for my 10-year-old daughter. yo son, who is fascinated by all things related to science, technology, engineering, and meteorology. This kid, on the other hand, was a complete waste of time; nothing worked as it should, even when the instructions were followed to the letter. Even when it was cold and hot, the thermometers for one experience never went above 70 degrees.
