It is wrong for Sister Belle to offer such a service. In contrast to the DVD and music books/CDs offered in other packages, Drumsticks and a small pamphlet are included in this package. Visit Steel Drum Source for introductory DVDs, songbooks, and playalong CDs.
The Jumbie Jams are absolutely loved by kids and adults alike. Since the sound and quality of this instrument are similar to those of a full-sized instrument, it is an excellent introduction to music, regardless of

The 35 year old son and 32 year old son both played these drums for the little two year old at the Missouri Botanical Garden's Christmas Glow as part of the "Twelve Drummers Drumming" performance. The sound of this amplifier is perfect, but I was surprised by my DIL's suggestion I got it for her 35th birthday. In response to my concern that he might drive her insane with it, she told me she was fine with that. Christmas has come and gone, and my son is thrilled with his drum, and my daughter-in-law is putting the final touches on Jingle Bells and intends to have Deck the Halls ready in time for next holiday season. After learning that his older brother had gotten this drum, my other son bellowed, "I want one!". I get the impression that I am in the Caribbean when I hear this sound.
Having just returned from Jamaica, my husband had to have this, and it was prominently displayed on our coffee table after our trip. I highly recommend buying a complete set as well as the songbook, or you'll drive yourself mad listening to "Day O. " over and over. All in all, it's a pretty cool item, and even I like playing it to make up.
The sound of steelpans has been forever engraved in my mind (a good thing) after living for a while in the USVIs. I was satisfied with the steelpan's sound, and it really achieves the authentic sound I expected. The Islands immediately bring me back to them when I play on them, so mission accomplished. Furthermore, I should mention that It is reported that other reviews claimed that the stand is cheap and prone to breaking. It is made of plastic, but seems to be sturdy and durable. When properly maintained, it should last a long time.
Plays very easily* The rubber mallets that are included sound much better than the nicer mallets we have. * The plastic stand is a thicker, nicer plastic but is still unstable enough for me to deduct one star for "Studiness. ". After spraying the metal drum we had to clean it A silver painting was painted on the canvas. Powder coating or dipping are not an option. ******Overall, a 5 star item for this price point as each of the notes are hand written on the drum with a permanent marker, a feature documented in the product pictures but I somehow overlooked. In this day and age, it may not be a dealbreaker, but it's almost amusing to see it happen.
Each of the tuned areas is marked with the note of the area with the marker, which is great for reference and very useful. As soon as my wife received it, she began playing it. It has been reported that the stand is made of plastic, and it is easily broken. In my opinion, it went together fairly easily and is quite durable, but if the original were ever to break, it would be possible to make a replacement from wood or pvc tubing. If you want to play it standing up, it would be possible to make a taller stand. Set the thing up on a TV tray, or just set it up in front of it.
I like that idea. There is a possibility that the stand could be heavier, as there is a tendency for it to slide on It wouldn't take more than a few beanbags to resolve the situation. Despite that, I suspect a decent stand can be fabricated with a few pieces of pvc pipe.
An open box arrived with the drum. All documents are missing, as well as the stand and mallet. There was no warranty on the unit before it was resold as a new item, it appeared to be previously returned Despite the price tag, it does not appear to be as high-quality as it should be based on its appearance. It appears to have been hand-tuned though. Sharpies are used to write the notes. Spray-painted surfaces cover both the front and back of the vehicle This coat is not consistent, and the silver paint was not applied evenly. Clearly this will not hold up in the long run. This one is getting sent.
