Questions & Answers

Is there a difference between cato no 11 and cato no 15 Is 212 and 11-related How many lighting kits are there in 214?

There are eleven digits in the number 11 The 212 is the Commuter Train Light and the Express is the Fluorescent Light. There are eleven digits in the number 11 Sleeping Express is 214. It is light, just like the bulb of a light bulb.

What is the number of light bars in these kits?

In this package, you will also find 212) and 6 diffusion bars.

Version 2 and the original are the same, but what is different?

Several newer models do not work with the original because the light diffusers are different. I also think the original version has too much brightness, which I find excessive. It is possible to tell the two versions apart based on the colors on their PCBs A brown version is the original a black version is the version 2.

Use of this kit on DCC track is possible?

Similarly to the engines, the power for the light kit comes from the track. There is no guarantee that the kits will function, but I cannot think of any reason they wouldn't.

It is the perfect complement to the Kato Super Chief passenger car set
5/5

Japan shipped my kit to me within two weeks. In addition to Japanese, there were instructions in English as well. After a little self-tutoring on YouTube, I was able to quickly assemble my Kato Super Chief Passenger Car with these lights. The situation demanded that we do so As a result of the existing outside lights on the Vista Valley car, the light diffuser for that car will need to be shortened. It is recommended that those who found that they had to manually switch on their car to make the lights work redo their The light diffuser is likely too far back on the light fixture and is creating pressure against it. It is also possible that one or both sets of contact strips have been bent. There are two possibilities the light diffuser may be upside down or too far away from the LED to send the light all the way to the other end of the car. This type of light works well when installed properly. Neither the color filter nor the light filter was used, as I liked the way the light looked as it was. Filters of this type must be installed after the light board has been removed from the plastic unit. The difficulty level in N scale is very high. It wouldn't be worth my time if I was.

This is a brilliant piece of engineering, but it requires a little The installation of these products is excellent when they are done correctly
5/5

Despite the very shallow depth of the cabin, there is a uniform glow throughout the cabin. Everything has been machined and engineered to the highest standard. Apparently they work on both DCC and DC layouts. I have them on a DCC layout right now, but they're apparently just as useful on DC. First, it will probably take 15 minutes for the first car, and then it will probably take another 2 minutes A further 3 minutes is required for each following one.

I found the following to be quite helpful for myself 1) On the lamp portion, give the pins a slight bend so that the metal contact strips can grab onto them. In addition to holding everything in place, this will also ensure everything is not moved. 2) Pay attention to where the lightboard goes on the lightboard. Apparently, the light is mounted at the back of the car, and the top of the car (which you remove in order to install the lighting system) has an arrow marked on it (I think it was on my Intercity). When it is seated correctly, the light panel should snap into place, or at least sit in place. **
3) This lamp piece could be reinforced with a small piece of electrical tape. The bricks were about 1 cm x 1/2 cm thick, enough to block the light that shined down on those first two rows. This will result in a much more even lighting across the car. Also included in the kit is a set of six (and exactly six) orange pieces of plastic that can be attached to the lamp piece to help diffuse and "warm" the color slightly. I would recommend at least experimenting with them because the effect is subtle, but I think it is more in line with the lighting on the rails.

Kit to turn on your car's lights
4/5

The installation is for the passenger cars of the Kato Silver Zephyr line. Despite the fact that I love Kato products, their instructions in Japanese just don't work for me. It is impossible to understand how the process works with the minimal English instructions. I had most difficulties with the lens of the light. The first thing you have to note is that it is not clear which side of the lens is "UP" and which way it is oriented toward In the picture, the printed side is facing the roof, and the small end of the printed area is facing In addition, mounting the lens in the roof can be challenging. The instructions state that there are three points on the roof to mount the unit, but really there are only two and it can be difficult to locate them as seen from To make things easier, I used a Sharpie to mark my points. In order to prevent the lens from skewing at an angle, pressure must be applied evenly to the lens. As of now, the installation is complete, however the flights flicker when the coaches are running. According to Google, this is a common problem with a rather complicated solution, and it is not likely to be realized any time soon.

It would be good if you could get them to work properly
3/5

As part of the Kato Santa Fe Super Chief set, I included these. As for the lamps themselves, they were easy to install, but the diffuser that goes into the roof of the passenger cars is a lot harder to fix without having it fall Because there's no satisfying click when it goes in right or anything like that, figuring out how to get it into the right spot is sort of a guesswork. I've found that watching YouTube videos has helped me Finding a way to make them not flicker is a major pain. I tried everything I could think of to make sure the metal contacts were making good contact with the lights, but the flicker never went away. There was a video on YouTube in which the guy used solder to make a good connection, but that isn't what you should need to do for this kind of job. As far as I am concerned, it should be easy to plug and play.

On the Japanese A700, a led Kato kit was installed
4/5

I liked the kit, but the instructions were not very clear. The light segments last segment had to be snapped off, as well as the sides snapped to the nearest radius, for fitting to A700 train ends. To the right of the Led is the narrow white line. The large flange is on inside of the carriage, the narrow portion is facing the roof of the carriage, and there are lugs sort of in the middle to locate. In order to extend the brass legs, they must be fed through long slots on the base and then pressed under the support. Do not bend the legs while you do this. There is a very poor connection between the Brass contacts and pins on top. It sits sideways in an above clear guide going into the pins when the pins are in contact with the brass contacts. There will be a lot of fiddling and adjusting required. Having the trains come apart easily is the easiest, I found that you put the upper half upside down on a towel and then lower the lower half. Clicking the carriages back together was a tricky process for one of them. We need to apply some pressure to one side first, then we can apply pressure to the other A lower and wider side was added. Once assembled, sides may need to be compressed for final snapping
As usual, this was the most difficult carriage, it was the one with intermittent lighting on curves at high There are a lot of tiny couplings link springs to deal with when taking the carriages and base apart. They are attached through the access slots after the carriages and base are connected with couplings. The problem is in the contact connections between the wheels and main bus bar. It is my sincerest hope that Additionally, when the train stops, the lights stop automatically, as they are DC systems.

This is an excellent product, though the instructions are not as helpful as they could be
4/5

The good news is that if you search youtube, you can find lots of videos that show you how to install the components and some advice for making the process The flickering issue has been reported by quite a few people but I have not encountered it Taking your time with the install and ensuring all the contacts are seated properly and the tracks and wheels are clean should make sure you don't encounter any flickering issues. Made a big difference in how it looked with the tracks and wheels clean.
