Questions & Answers
I recall that the Holiday Tradition Express runs on a G gauge track. The LionChief O gauge remote control can be used only with LionChief locomotives.
There is only one type of engine supported by the program Lionel Chief
As with the LionChief Plus and LionChief Plus 2, the controller works with all three products. The total number of engines is 0. You can use this if your engine falls into one of these categories.
Trains cannot run at the same time. You can set each remote to control 3 trains on 3 different frequencies so they will remember the train that runs However, the universal remotes all share the same 3 frequencies, so you would have 6 trains that were sharing one frequency.

It's a little difficult to control three trains at once. Since two of the engines didn't respond to their remotes, I decided to buy this to see if the remote had something to do with it. On one of the failed engines, it did work, but not on the other. Unless you are a seasoned pro, you need to go a bit slow when trying to connect the remote to a specific engine on a specific number Make sure the standard remotes are connected to their respective engines BEFORE you try to connect the remote a train. You can either power up ONLY the engine you want to connect or ensure the entire network is connected before connecting the remote. With it, I found it challenging to try and operate three trains simultaneously. In my layout, I run 5 trains on 3 main tracks and one siding, so it is a little like the Gomez Adam's layout. Trying to make sure the trains don't crash into each other is what I like most about my job. As long as I have five remote controls in front of me, I can adjust speed per engine very quickly and keep everything The only difficulty I encountered was when one train was catching up to another and the remote number was confusing, then I had to remember which number that was and select it, where the train might accelerate or decelerate unattended depending upon the position of the speed lever. The bad remote will stay on one train and the dedicated remotes will run all the others with ease. But it's a great idea to have the device to assist with troubleshooting if a unit fails to operate. trains also have a cell phone app which works over Bluetooth The unit is more convenient than the app for me Aside from having a few regrets about buying the unit, I like.
The program can be easily used. This is a good alternative to the regular Lionchief remote! With three trains in one track, it's easy to hook them up. A couple of sets are linked up to it the HO, S, and O Polar Express. In all three cases, I conducted a test run. Syncing with the remote is simple and they all work well. One of the best things about this game is that you can engage one of the three engine sets two times and it'll adjust the speed of the train that has been previously preset at the speed you desire. Please read the instructions in the manual and you'll learn what I mean.
When I first tried to bind my locos to the controller, I had some trouble. It gets easier on subsequent power cycles once it is connected. As far as smooth operation is concerned, there is also a bit of a learning curve.
In spite of this, the software still runs on version For easy installation of the latest version, you will need to download the Lion Chief Universal Updater App from the Apple app store. For it to operate smoothly, it needs 1 GB of RAM. (An installation video is available on you tube as well). After all that has been done and the bugs have been solved, this is an excellent Please take note It is not possible to get the app on Android The problem is being worked on by Colonel.
However, I found the Lionel video to be useless, and I followed the instructions that came with it. The trains I run, like the Polar Express and Silver Bells, do not require separate remotes. You can choose an engine number and assign it to which one you want to run. If pairing with Polar Express, press engine button 1, otherwise press engine button 2. It's great having a remote control.
The only problem is keeping track of which train is which, but that is my problem and not the remote's.
