the front and rear lights, as well as the motor.

In this case, yes, this decoder works on a dcc ready Athern locomotive, but if your loco is dcc ready, you will have to purchase a wiring harness and plug and two wires. With this decoder, all you need is an old Atearn model to use it. This decoder comes with a plug on the decoder end. There is a Digitrax DHWHP harness available that is 3" long with a 9 pin socket, which I believe is what you will need. This should be of some assistance.
It is an excellent answer provided by Dog Pack. Typically, one of the challenges that older locomotives present is the chassis is often electrically connected to both wheels and to motors at the same time. It is critical to ensure that the motor is securely isolated from the chassis when installing this. The black electrician's tape I frequently use is very effective. For example, if you search for the loco's model and DCC, you will find instructions for many locos that will aid you to complete this task.

Curiosity got the best of me. As far as DCC trains go, I'm new to HO scale. To experiment with controlling my own devices with track signals, I wanted to use track signals. It is not used for an upgrade of an older diesel locomotive. With my train track offering power, I sent commands to this decoder, which then made several wires active the motor wire with direction, the front and rear lights. I was unable to connect to any of them. To test this, all you need is a voltmeter or LEDs. I am very pleased with the results.
It's easy to solder these, and they're perfect for those with soldering skills. In 1985, I had a few F7A Athearn Blue Box diesels that I used on my farm.
It is an old DC Athern blue box that I bought to add to it. It fits well but it is a tight fit.
Having this on the train makes my husband happy.
The price was excellent and the delivery was quick.
The performance was excellent.
It was very easy to install, and program these digital switches, so a job well done by Digitrax.
