Better than the stock 1/10 Slash shocks, but not quite as good as the big bore Ti/Nitride shaft shocks that came standard on my Ultimate Low CG 1/10 Slash truck. If you already have the "Ultimate" shocks and upgraded stockers, it's not worth the money/effort, in my opinion. The original "Ultimate" shocks on my car are larger in diameter, softer, and have better rebound damping than the "Big Bore" shocks. I went back to the drawing board and began working on my originals again.
Much better.
Yes, I have them on my 2wd Slash VXL, which is equipped with the same suspension as a standard Slash 2wd. If my memory serves me correctly, the 4wd slash has the same length shocks all around, whereas the 2wd has different lengths front and back. The two different lengths you'll need are included in this kit.
A quick search of the Traxxas forums reveals that the 2WD models use the same shocks, while the 4X4 shocks are interchangeable but have different springs.

However, it is a little pricey. They compress very smoothly, which is a good thing. They have a softer feel than stock, but with significantly improved damping. On jumps, you can basically run them low without causing too much chassis slap. My only issue was getting the spigot on the shock oil bottle to work. The only criticism I have is that they appear to be a little pricey for what you get, at least in my opinion. Get some metal shock caps and thicker oil for your stock shocks, and you'll be almost there. I'll keep you updated if they fare better in wrecks. I've had to straighten the stock shock shaft a couple of times.
Everyone wants a better shock for the rustler 4x4 because the originals stink,,,well these are better but still stink a little less, R they worth $60 as is,,defiantly not, maybe pared with a good set of springs these might work. I tried 30 to 70 weight oil, different springs I had laying around, and they still sucked,,,i looked at the GTR but they're crazy expensive,,,and have plastic caps,,my neighbor has a rusty and was waiting to see how these were,i told him to order aluminum caps and up the oil weight til a better solution presents itself,,,i went back to 50wt and used the original springs that came on the rusty, the rusty I'm just tired of fiddling with it,,maybe there's a better aftermarket spring and shock combo that won't set you back as much as my silverado shocks,,if anyone knows, please let me know,,update shock was leaking out top and down piston,,returned for refund.
My Slash 4x4 is a perfect fit. All you have to do now is add the included shock oil and you're good to go. Check to see if your original bottom bolts are still in good shape because they will be reused. You may need to adjust the internal damper or tweak the spring spacers depending on your driving situation. However, I noticed a distinct difference right out of the box. I'm a guy who prefers to play in the backyard or in the desert. It was primarily purchased to replace a shock that my son had broken after crashing his truck into a large rock.
With the exception of the price, I adore everything about these; they're well-made and exude quality. I put a lot of abuse on my rc cars, and these just keep on going when the stock ones can't. br>br>On the other hand, I noticed that these didn't come with aluminum caps, so I ordered the fancy blue ones. These come with aluminum caps, so don't waste your money on the blue ones; they're just for show.
Installed in a Mt 2wd stampede with a castle brushless system that pushes the vehicle to insane speeds of 60 mph. Think jumps and gets bashed, and these shocks appear to be in good shape! It was well worth the 35 dollars I paid at the time I purchased it!.
When I noticed that my slash's stock suspension was beginning to bend, I decided to upgrade to something a little more durable; the metal caps were the first thing I noticed and appreciated. It was a simple installation, and I had enough oil to completely fill all of the shocks. While I haven't had much time to put these through their paces, they feel a lot better than what you'd get from a stock slash. Overall, I'm pleased with the upgrade, and I'm hopeful that these will outlast the standard model.
To be honest, I was hoping for a little more from these shocks; they're fine, but they're not much better than the stock shocks on my 2wd slash. For the price, I wish they had included aluminum shock caps.
With gold anodized shafts, these are cooler than the originals. They will be installed on my Traxxas Robby Gordon 2WD VXL- 3 seconds (at 50 mph) and then some squirrel on the grill.
