Do you know if there is any way to stop sand from getting into the housing and causing premature wear?

As well, I had problems with the gears and had to replace them. As much as you can ( without stripping it out ) you could tighten the differential as much as possible and then use a type of liquid nail called a "cock," placed around the edge when it is tightened. So long as you do it right, the problem will definitely be solved

It fits perfectly in my Traxxas Summit 1/16 and provides exactly what I was looking for. You are usually able to crash at a moderate rate unless you crash at a really high rate.

It seems to break too easily

These should not be continually broken. Switching to aluminum ones will allow you to have far fewer problems as aluminum doesn't flex as badly as steel. Avoid them if you want to save your money.
