Questions & Answers
Yes, if the motor's diameter matches that of the Velenion 3500.
Yes, to the best of my knowledge.
It's not worth it because it's too small.
Yes, it will work with Slash, but a universal servo extension wire will be required to connect to the receiver box. Part RCE1641 from Racer's Edge is what I use.

Two small heatsinks, a fan, four small cap screws, four white washers/spacers, two smaller countersunk machine screws, and the fan mount are all included in the kit. The heatsinks have two screw holes on each side, allowing the fan mount to be placed in a variety of locations. Attach the mount to one heatsink with countersunk screws, then go through the fan and into the other heatsink with cap screws. The problem I had was that the heatsink screw holes did not perfectly line up with the fan mount, so I had to use some force to get it to fit and work. br>Affirmatives: It came close to matching the color of the Traxxas VXL 3500 motor it was mounted on, as well as the color of the Hot Racing motor mount. It clipped right on to the motor without any modification and can be removed as a whole unit without having to remove the motor. I got it all mounted and it fit perfectly after a little back and forth and rotating the motor clockwise 90 degrees (when looking from the back) so the VXL motor wires come out the side rather than the top. I got rid of the JST(? ) plug and installed it directly into the receiver using a Futaba connector. br>I've had it for a day and turned it on to make sure it worked. I'm going to drive the truck for a while and then update this review.
You should be cautious and take some reviews with a grain of salt, as RC users range from snot-nosed kids to engineers. If you're mechanically inclined, Fit is a great option. Don't assemble the Slash the way it's shown. The best and simplest solution is to mount the fan directly to the heat sinks (with plastic washers in between) and skip the upper bracket. If you do that, it will fit perfectly on a Slash Ultimate without the need to move anything. br>br>However, if you try to get to the receiver box, the leads are a little short. There is, however, no compelling reason to do so. It is more than long enough if you go straight to the ESC fan lead. If you already have a fan on your ESC, all you need to do now is make or buy a simple splitter. I understand that this may be a lot to ask of a child. Installation is simple for an RC enthusiast.
My Traxxas Rustler 4x4 VXL is one of my favorite vehicles. Veleneon brushless motors are used in the VXL versions. This thing doesn't fit with the lip and electrical connector on top of the motor with the included bracket that mounts the motor off to the side. However. Replace the bracket with the two small heatsinks provided, which snap onto the motor without having to remove it. Then, between the heat sink and the fan, place the plastic standoffs. Attach the fan to the heat sinks directly with screws. In the summer, it keeps my motor much cooler by blowing directly onto it. There are no instructions included with this kit, so you'll have to rely on photos of it being installed on the internet. It's not difficult if you dispose of the bracket. Now I'm content with it.
Is this a viable option? Yes! However, once installed on the motor, it will require additional wiring to reach the ESC. br>br>I was able to assemble and install this on my Slash 4x4 after some trial and error. The fit on the motor is perfect, and the color is a perfect match. The fan came on immediately and appeared to be moving enough air. br>br>The issue is that no matter how you assemble or mount it, the wiring is too short to reach the ESC. An extra 2" /- will be required. It takes a long time to reach the end of the wiring. br>br>I was able to install the assembly without rotating the motor as some have suggested, but it would certainly help with the installation. Advantages: br>br> br>Well-fitting motorbr>Matches Traxxas bluebr>Fan worksbr>Pricebr>br>Cons: br>No instructionsbr>To work properly, modification is requiredbr>br>I am currently installing this and will update my review as soon as I have more information about its longevity and durability. br>br>.
Because the aux port and the female connector are the same, don't use it. When you disassemble the power port and plug it in, you'll notice that about 2" of wire is missing. It's not going to work. It might just fit on the motor, but without splicing in 2" of wires, it won't. I'm sure it fits other products, but the connector could have been male so we could use the aux port; in any case, it's useless for me, so it's going back; I just lost shipping here and there.
Installed on my Slash Ultimate, which is powered by a 5000 3S battery. The wires only reached the receiver by a hair's breadth. I ran the rpm sensor between the heatsinks while rotating the motor. Because this isn't for a specific model and there aren't any instructions, it could be installed in a variety of ways. When combined with a mesh dust cover, it's a great way to keep the temperature down.
It is still not quite right. Only three of the four heatsink taps (screw holes) matched the holes in the bracket. Both heatsinks fit after the motor was rotated 180 degrees. To increase leverage for the bolts that did thread in, I simply tightened the two middle bolts to the heatsink body (not in any of the misaligned taps). This may limit the bashing to one round. Later, I will make an update. br>It would be cool if there were instructions. br>I tried several times to pull them out and rotate them to align all of the bolt holes. no go. br>This is also on a 2WD Slash. The engine compartment appears to be a little more cramped than its 4WD counterparts.
I tweaked it until it no longer rubbed and then sent it. It didn't last a single battery pack, and the device is no longer spinning. I was just slamming my head against the concrete. It's a waste of time. I'll keep the heatsink and probably just replace the fan with a different brand, but I'd go with something else if I were you.
