My Spektrum 1900kV brushless motor had a simple installation. The fan is functional and looks good with the rest of my Losi Lasernut.
Pros:
- a quick arrivalbr>- I can't even hear the fan because it's so quiet. br>- Most fans have a jst connector, but his was one of the few that had a Guyana connector that could be connected to a spare receiver channel. br>- With the help of a heat gun, I was able to confirm that my motor temperatures had dropped from 149 to 112. This was done outside on a 90-degree day while running 2s LiPobr>br>Cons:
- In order for this to fit my rustler 4x4 vxl (see photos), I had to saw one fin off. br>- Although I would prefer the fan to be mounted on top of the motor, the results appear to be satisfactory as is. br>- It was a tight squeeze to get this to work, and I had to file down the fin I cut off so that the motor wires wouldn't be damaged. br>br>Notes:
- Thermal compound was used on the heat sink to improve heat dissipation. br>- Overall, I'm pleased with the results (4/5), especially since I had to modify it to make it fit.
Installed on a Losi db pro with a three-second battery. It was easy to attach it to the motor, plug it into the receiver, and bash around the back yard for about a half hour. The heat sink remained in place and the motor was noticeably cooler.
Fit and finish are excellent, and the fan is extremely quiet, especially when compared to the Traxxas fan on my esc. I took it to the beach and put three 2s and one 3s battery through it, as well as a few wipeouts and three times through it. Jumps of 4 feet with no issues with the fan. On 3s, I did overheat once. For the price, I believe it is adequate.
My Senton's fan continues to break. I'm currently working on my second set of exercises. The one in my Granite has been performing admirably and is capable of withstanding a lot more abuse. I'm not sure why my Senton keeps breaking. The second one broke, and the broken blades found their way into the gearbox, jamming the spur gear. Nothing could possibly get through the grille and into the fan, so I'm not sure what's going on.
This is beneficial because more aluminum in contact with the motor means more heat is dissipated. It's very effective, but you'll need to make sure one side of the motor is completely exposed for it to work. The fan produces a lot of air movement, and you can hear it running.
This is a perfect match for the 4000KW HobbyWing motor! I'm actually gearing up a little now that the motor is staying cool, to get a little more speed. It comes highly recommended!.
I use this on my Losi Lasernut, which has about five hours of hard run time and, despite its small size, keeps the motor cool. There was no overheating despite the 90-degree temperatures.
