Spektrum S2100 Smart Charger: 200W (2x100W) AC Dual Output Lipo Battery Charger with Usb | LCD Color Display | IC3 Connector (EC3 Compatible)

After purchasing several of the new Spektrum smart batteries, I was very excited to acquire this charger. I like the smart technology and that it is a solid idea. I ran into problems immediately after opening the box, though. It was very loud when the charger fans ran continuously after powering up and upon its initial start-up. Once the charger has finished charging a Spektrum 6S 5000 mah 30C, the fans shut off and the charger begins to heat up rapidly, I had to remove the plug to prevent overheating. In addition, this charger does not include IC3 to IC5 adapters, which only adds another 12 volts If I want to charge two devices at the same time I will have to pay 24 dollars, but the thing that clinched it for me was the lack of charging at the field. The charger only works with AC power, so if you want to use it for RC field use with a 12 volt battery you're out of luck. For less than $150 you can buy the Venom dual charger which works with both AC and DC power and has charging cables included! This charger is overpriced to me, based on the limited equipment included and the lack of versatility. I like the smart technology, but it is overpriced because of its limited features. The new Horizon Hobby products resemble Apple's removal of audio jacks and changes to the USB connectors. Horizon Hobby is trying to change the market and force everyone to purchase overpriced products. The Spektrum company is a reliable one, I use their products extensively in my RC airplanes and have been a customer for years, however the charger appears to have been rushed to We hope Horizon makes a charging station that is both AC and DC compatible with cables included!.

On October 1st, I received my S2100 shipment. I don't use it very often. I think this is the 5th time charging a pair of Smart batteries at a time that it has If I tried to charge, discharge, or put the batteries into storage, I got the message "Current Operation Not Supported". The problem occurred 7 days after it went out of warranty, but I stayed on a "Live Chat" (there is no phone number on Horizon Hobby's website) for 2 hours simply to get the form to fill out and the shipping label to print. It's been five years since I have owned a Venom Quad Pro charger and two years since I acquired a Venom PR2. I've never had a problem with this. This Smart Charger with the Smart batteries came up with an awesome idea. The Smart batteries can be set up to discharge on their own with this charging system. A month or so ago, it was. This may take up to five tries. I get the "Run Around" from Live Chat as well. This charger is the 5th plane I've bought in the last 3 months, along with 8 Smart batteries. While I've accumulated enough HHH points to get a free plane, I didn't realize being a loyal customer over the past five years meant anything. Be sure to have your paperwork ready if you order one of these chargers. You have to tell me when you bought it, the order number, the date of purchase, etc. It was a horrible Moreover, it was the first time I'd flown with Horizon Hobby in five years. The following dates are November 15th-December 15th Even though I had a pretty bad experience with Live Chat, I managed to ship it back and get a brand new charger Although I haven't used the new one yet, there was no need to haggle over the old one or answer questions about it, it was just shipped to me. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed that.

This makes no sense! When connected to a Spectrum smart battery, it requires an adapter! What do you think of this charger? Is it a Spectrum If they wanted to give it away for free, they could. Are you sure $12 extra per adaptor is necessary? Returning to work.

It is easy to charge Smart batteries as well as other brand name batteries thanks to the Smart Technology. Despite the ease of use, I am not familiar with the steps needed to access Smart battery features. I have noticed that the two cooling fans are already making excessive noise when they are turned on, and that might already be a sign that they are wearing out. The charger is only two months old, and for the money I would have expected the fans to last for years instead of just a few Although mine could be an anomaly, I have just passed the return window so there is no way to find out. The charger is not something I would purchase again, and I would advise those interested in purchasing it to watch and read other reviews prior to purchasing.

The charger makes it easy for someone like me to get into the electric RC hobby since I am new to it. I tested the charger with the Spectrum S2100 and found it to work flawlessly. There is a display showing the voltage of all cells, and you can choose what amps you would like it to charge your batteries at, and I believe you are able to program the device to charge your batteries as you prefer. If you are planning to buy this charger for $150 dollars, you will need to buy an IC3 to IC5 adapter, as it doesn't come with it.

Having nice things makes life a lot easier. My favorite toys are the ones I like to have. Nevertheless, if things don't work, they're nice and cool but worthless. Although, at the same time, the S2100 does function and isn't bad. The charger is a battery charger, you can charge any size battery at the same time, including different cell sizes (__S). It's just a charger, c'mon, it's just a You can use it quickly and easily.

I am impressed by how well the charger is built and how well it was built. Despite its reasonable price, the screen has a very nice feel to it, and doesn't feel cheap like some of Spektrum's products do. I've yet to try anything else. The fans are a bit louder than any charger I've ever experienced In addition to the number of cables (which is quite a few), there are no charging adapters included at all. It is a requirement that you make up adapters in case your packs are not compatible with EC/IC3. In the case of the 4000mah SMART LiPo, the auto discharge rate is set to 10 amps by default, which is Though I'm sure it can handle it, it would not be setup that way and seems a large amount of work to just get the battery up to the Thanks to its adjustability, it can be used by anyone.
