In a nutshell, With this helicopter, we had a lot of fun! This drone is a big hit with my youngest son (all boys) when he is 18 years old. This one he named Boss Man because he wants to show that he is in charge now he is the one in charge of all other drones we own (all from Children even as young as seven can operate the drone successfully as well as adults who love to play with it. My first impression of this model is how large it is and how easy it is to use. I took the attached video while hovering in place while the helicopter was hovering. In a nutshell, My background is with the Syma 107g and this is the Syma S39 which is larger but similar. Syma's S39 is stable compared to other RC helicopters and that's what makes me stand out from other models. It has a smooth hover, and you can easily manipulate it. As a result of the larger size, the new version is smoother when landing, especially on large surfaces. At first, I couldn't figure out how to power on the helicopter when I first opened it. The electrical cable, which comes out of the battery compartment, is red and blue. There is a power hole on the side of the helicopter where that can be attached. I took a while to figure out that part, but other than that, it has been a great The power cable thing shouldn't cause you any trouble. Normally, batteries are held in place with screws, but in this case, I chose to leave them out so it is easy to swap batteries. The like). Lastly, I like how the left control stick on the remote control holds its position once you let go of it. It is also very easy to hover with this feature. Although I prefer the new design of controller over the old, it does feel cheap when compared with the 107g controller. However, this new controller does the job well and I think it will last quite a while. It's an excellent helicopter all around. Having this fun with the kids and myself has been a real blessing. It is generally my preference to purchase Sigma products as they are well-made, well executed and dependable. In this instance, the copter helicopter* held the key. * I have been flying drones for many years and am a licensed private pilot. I build my own quad and hex-rotor aircraft. From scratch, you can build three-rotor copters. Drones that are sold as "toys" make great gifts for friends and their children. Syma's quad copters have been very good to me, but I thought that I would try one on the ground considering I had only flown them on RC simulators before. Helli is ready to fly out of the box. All it requires is a one-time battery charge, which is removed with a small screw, but the battery stays in place for charging. It was nice that the 2nd battery came with the package. That's when the problems began, even though it looks sharp, but apparently it's not that simple to get it up and hovering. They are not as easy to operate as the remote they provide with their drones. The remote is a little like a game controller with tiny controls. The controller is IR-based and not radio, so there must be some line of sight for it to work. I lost contact with my copter while doing this and it circled around the house and landed because it was unable to fly. As it attempted to fly straight ahead or backwards, it kept rotating one way or the other. It flew over the back wall and dipped below, and it lost contact with the controller before landing. My only complaint is that the controller is a bit smaller than what I am used to, while the copter itself is excellent. It will feel very familiar and comfortable to anyone who plays video games. For learning to fly models, it is a valuable tool. The Syma Outdoor Drone is described as "indoor drone" but would be a lot of fun in a gym or large indoor area. In the best case scenario, I'd give it five stars, but with the current controller, four stars suffice. Small hands will give it five stars.
